So how will this work? Are we all on the same team, or are the monsters separate from the humans?

A little of both. In the Golden Age (1887-1950), Monsters were accepted into society, yet Hunters still go after rogue ones, along with political opponents. Basically, if a Monster is a danger or saboteur, you kill it.

@Roseheart and Dwarmin: Dwarmin's right. The game hasn't started yet.

I'm going ahead and approving Dwarmin's character, though, and if you guys want a roleplaying prologue set in this bar, then sure. But perhaps just Dwarmin and Roseheart's characters, and the other two will get introduced when the game starts? Or do all of you want to meet in a bar?

It depends on when you want to start.

I suppose either at 10 PM or tomorrow. So, probably tomorrow.

((I don't care.))

The man takes the outstretched blade and admires the craftsmanship. Mmph, that is one fantastic sword.

He hands it back.

What do you intend to do with it?

((OOC: Seems we've got a bit of time to Rp then.))

Anthramarux had been silent, eyeing the man as he inspected her blade. She took it back after-hefting it's weight surprisingly easy, considering her size, and sliding it into it's sheath across her back.

"Hunting, of course." She answered curtly. "A claw truly exists to be bloodied, after all. Though this blade was originally a gift, not a weapon. It looks good on me, and I have fond memories of him, so why not take it?

Also, in the relatively short time I anticipate our acquaintance to last, I would prefer you go by my more mundane moniker, Mara. You really don't know Anthramarux...and, that name is quite a bit of work to say in your language."
She says quizzically, returning to her drink-whatever it is, it's in a huge Orc sized mug, and it's freezing judging by the cold vapor coming from it. She seems to be enjoying it fine. She turns back to him after a big gulp.

"So, what sort of being are you? Are you hunting too? Perhaps for softer prey?" She says, tone laced with a very subtle sarcasm.

Sort of, I've been hunting for you, if you want to call it that. Despite how his words could be taken, there's nothing about him that insights aggression.

I might be able to help. 50 years is a long time to spend on Earth and you might need something to do. And I have a knack for knowing where all the fun is. If you'd be interested...

Then again it could get messy and such a nice blade as this one, perhaps you should just...
He looks at her oversize mug. Then directly at her eyes, intense and friendly, listening completely to her next words.

"You seem to know much about me." She says, plainly, her own flinty, utterly human dark blue eyes glancing away. After a moment, she returns.

"...And, you're right. 50 years is nothing to my kind, but in this form, well it's going to drag on a bit...ah, pardon the pun...

You must understand. I don't fear death. Being bored, is literally worse than dying. So, I'm looking for worthy prey..or to put in your terms, a good cause to fight for. My people see them as the same thing. Perhaps, even a grand adventure, following the clouds parted by my Brother.

Can you help me find that, mortal? If you can, we may have more than a passing acquaintance."
She says with an air of finality, placing her elbows on the bar and digging hungrily into a meal of meaty stuff on skewers.

It should be said, her table manner are quite atrocious.

Amongst the ravenous display, probably unheard, the word escapes his mouth...

Indeed.

The next encounter is the one you'd least expect...

J B Morgan is inside a monster hunter's outfitter store, looking at a potion. ((totally godmoding, but will edit this post as asked))

Ooh not that one...

Something for that sword perhaps? Right over here... He leads J to a different area of the store, seeming like the owner.

You know it's a good thing that up-and-comers like yourself are stepping up to take on these monsters.

They're getting ready, too. He says, with a fittingly serious tone.

All the time.

Here...

The man in the dark trenchcoat, scribbles something on a piece of paper. If you decide to buy anything... show this to the pretty girl up front and she will give you a discount.

Spoiler: folded piece of paper (click to show/hide)

He leaves the store.

((Official Game Start))

Day One
January 2nd, 1887

After Ned meets up with the other two in the area, a carriage arrives made of dark brown wood. Two people, a tall man and an only slightly shorter woman, pop out of the carriage with crisp black suits and a silver tie to complement their grey undershirts. Going into the center of the village that our heroes are located at, the male turns to his partner, and after some whispering, pulls a man over with clear instructions.

The man tells Gunter, J.B., Ned, and Anthramarux to meet in the carriage and head to the Northern Isle. The Bureau's here with a job, or that's what he says.

Anthramarux is a bit suspicious. She cocks her head to the side, and says she's angry.

"Mortals, I demand you show me your badges of office, your marks o' court, and your writs of profession and so forth. We must assure you are who you say you are, before getting in your wheel-o-mobile."

Action: Ask for ID! If it seems legit, we go.
