Earth IV: Of Predators and Prey
« on: December 13, 2016, 09:23:44 pm »

Greetings, people of Bay12!

Since I put my RWBY game on hold (which I plan to reboot into a Roleplay, mark my words.), I decided to make a new game, and after some goading, I decided to make an RPG for the Mythos I may have accidentally created. So, here's the background info for the game, and the current situation.

Alrighty, let me repost the sheet with the alterations.

By the by, this takes place in an in-universe Golden Age between 1887 and 1950. I'm going ahead and telling you because, despite the exact year, guns can come from anywhere in that real time period. So, you could have an M1911 even though it's not 1911 yet.

Nice! StG 44s are awesome.

Both characters are approved, just thought I would do that now. I might put up a 4-6 player cap, but I wanna see who else joins before I do.

Well, I'll try this character again. The last time I tried this I got shot down. :P

I do have to make up some lore here, so tell me if there is any conflicts.

Spoiler: Exiled Dragoness (click to show/hide)

Ironically, my character is both predator and prey.

Btw, question for the GM.

I notice I missed the timeline snippet. :P It's not the swords and sorcery age, apparently. Are melee weapons like a sword more or less completely outdated in this setting except as backups, or is magic still the 'great equalizer' that lets a swordsman fight on equal ground against a firearm?

I mean, should I just carry a rifle?

Sea Drakes don't interfere with the lore, and being cursed into a human doesn't either. What does irk me a little is a throwaway sentence at the start.

Agazhim is actually peaceful, kind, yet stern. Dragons are too wise to rule with anger and control, since it ends up causing citizens to rebel. So, Agazhim, and all Dragons, Wyverns, and Dragonborn, are actually quite kind and patient, though temperamental and stern.
Approved!

In this setting (and especially with the main series set in 2016), swords and magic are just as good as guns and science. Like you said, magic is an equalizer that allows sword combat, but also, the most common way to kill something immortal (roll with it) is with blades made with magical Crystal Ebony. Swords are viable in that regard. Essentially, swords (and spears and bows, but that's not what you asked.) are just as good as guns in this setting.

Would love to see -The wing sword.((seriously got a pic? or something similar?))

A hispanic man with an eyepatch and slick back, black hair and wearing a trenchcoat finds Mara at a bar.

Anthramarux. ((pronounced better than a human typically would)) Is it?

He puts out a hand, as if half expecting a shake, half expecting you would hand over your prized weapon for his boyish curiosity to pour over.

OK, I can fix.

Wasn't sure where the politics in this game were on the sliding scale of Lord of the Rings<==>Game of Thrones. :P I'll be honest I read 'chunky salsa rules' and assumed it was going to be a horrible grimdark bloodbath...

Made some changes now. Tell me if they fit better.

So how will this work? Are we all on the same team, or are the monsters separate from the humans?

((I'm not actually accepted to play yet :P I officially don't exist.

Anyone, picture something like this.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But the ends and the hilt are sharper and more 'wing like', hooked into crescents. That sword is called a Zweihander, btw-it's pretty much the last type of blade humans ever really developed, before we went on to other weapons.

My headcanon is that Draconic weaponry would have evolved further past that along the same lines.))

((I don't care.))

The man takes the outstretched blade and admires the craftsmanship. Mmph, that is one fantastic sword.

He hands it back.

What do you intend to do with it?

((I'm really flattered, but has the game actually started yet...? Usually the GM places the setting, then we start.

I really do enjoy roleplaying, but I don't want to annoy him either-it's his world, we just play in it. Until/Unless I get accepted, I can't really do much. Tho I am really interested in following this thread of conversation.

Edit: Also, my backstory details might get hammered out a bit more, which is why I am holding off.))
