I think Ardent Debater' plan is full of wishful thinking, expensive and risky. We started the whole campaign to get more personal power to fight against the Angel and I don't want to spend loads of evil on maybe converting some citizens and making the assault a little easier

Also, I see little need in granting so many boons to ordinary Mercenary captain. He got few artefacts and great horse already.Spending loads of our essence to make him even stronger makes it look like we are serving him and not vice versa. -1 to the plan

I think the people campaining to give him more power intend for him to become a sort of Dragon

BTW, Malkus is rather useless in this campaign. He didn't change an outcome of any battle and I am pretty sure that we would be fine without his aid.

The only thing I like in Ardent Debater plan is sending cult of the wolf away... And even here I don't think that North is the right direction to take....

Guys, how about doing this?

1) Send our smoke wraiths\spectres in, do reconnaissance of the area, see where their defences are strongest, and what assets this town has to bear
2) Carefully poke in the dreams of the citizens. Consider corrupting a guard or two should we find a good target
3) Consider summoning few black imps to prepare an attack from below if scouts will find that this route is good
4) Send Malkus, Cult of the Wolf, Brutewolves and Mkilzk to the lands of Ura tribes to terrorise the area, create more brutewolves\assemble army of regular wolves\war dogs and enlarge the cult by forcefully converting some of victims.
5) Undead part of the army to remain with you staying around the city and waiting for an opportunity to attack. Needless to say that any travellers to be killed

My reasoning here is > Brutewolves and humans have a bad habit of eating, preventing us from staying in the area for few months. In the same time, they are not very useful in assaulting the city. Also, they are way more mobile than zombies and even if we decide to skip the city and move further, their mobility is useless because horde moves with a speed of a zombie.
Malkus is good for leading humans and training them to fight, if we want to get a leader for the undead horde, upgrading a wight (maybe giving him the corrupted staff) is a better course of action

Let's think about this some more.

Why are we even attacking this place? What are we trying to accomplish?

Death and Destruction!
In fact I think this may be a great place to camp our undead army and get a dark fortress. Note that my plan doesn't say attack. I want to spend a week scouting and then decide to assault, siege or just move on with our undead horde

*Buzzing noise*
Wrong. Malkus' tactical ability has saved your army several times. I didn't specifically mention it (perhaps I should have), but it factors into the behind the scenes calculations.

He is a commander he manages troops to get the best out of them so that makes sense.

So, how do we use the jar of one hundred tormented souls if it isn't here, can we just go: send 5 of each might to the jar?

They can also have important individuals so we can know better how the empire works. For now we don't even know what kind of government it is.

With enough knowledgment we can create better tatics to deal with the empire be it to gain cult power, mine their influence, gain personal power or just make sure their "wonderful warriors" don't ambush us to death, or just a small and humiliating failure that can damage the demon.

Also, Ardent Debater, i liked some parts but as a whole isn't going to work. Also, it's better to plant the seed of the republic than to say that the republic attacked. or else they will be moving troops TO US, our main core of cult power.

BTW, Malkus is rather useless in this campaign. He didn't change an outcome of any battle and I am pretty sure that we would be fine without his aid.

+1, But still in doubt if Malkus should stay with us or go with the others

The cult of the wolf should act sneaky, if the tribe is TOOO stronger, skip. If the tribe is just a little bit stronger we can win by the element of the surprise, and ambush like any good wolf. Maybe torture for questions and offer the leaders and shamans as sacrifice.

The deal is to discover if the tribes are united for something if they have only one kind of god or multiples. This way we maybe can let the cult of the wolf present themselves the "Wolf clan" touched by nature most savage blablabla and convert some people to the cult wolf because i don't know you, but as a tribal i think i would love to follow that weird fucking powerful shaman that controls fucking wolves.

Also spread the lie that we only got here because the empire decided that they would "eradicate savages" and our "clan" was forced to move.

This way we can even plant evidence (let behind a banner or broken hilt with symbols) in the razed tribes that suggests that was the empire the invader.

So, how do we use the jar of one hundred tormented souls if it isn't here, can we just go: send 5 of each might to the jar?

We already put 10 of each might inside the jar.

It's just a re-spawn point for when or if we die, we don't use it. Myscha get stronger near the jar so she "uses" it while protecting it.

With the new information that Malkus provides passive behind the scene rolls to tactics we need him with the horde

I still want to send the wolf cult and Mkilzk away because they are not that kind of force that is good for assaulting the city (should we go for this) In fact without Malkus we avoid problem of leadership with wolfmaster being a clear leader (Before Mkilzk grow adult)

There are a risk that Mkilzk may get herself in trouble or become too independent but I am willing to take the risk. Besides she may be in greater danger if she will stay with the army. It may be defeated

... so, we are getting 2 from the passive suffering, two from the direct sacrifices and then lose two to the leakage.

Find a large stone, twice our size, but thin enough to fit into a well, Irradiate it with evil worth 15 mental power and 3 physical, and carve some runes focused to spread power slowly. Focus on nightmareish dreams, promises of power that revel the location of the stone if one gives in and bodily corruption on touch as well as reduced inhibitions.
Find a 100-200 people village and drop it into the well, so the drinking water will slowly turn people evil or give them nightmares if they aren't easily corruptible.
Then move our horde around that village. We should be moving tangential towards our home to not draw any attention in that direction.

(We will lose most of our mental power to leakage on this rate, so we might make an investment.)

People are too willing to spend our essence on minor things. Might is important

Question: Does mentally dominating weak people cost mental might?

Snip

Your plan seems rather expensive. You're throwing around massive amounts of mental and physical power.

In addition, conversion really isn't as fast as you make it seem. You want to convert sufficient people in a week to dramatically damage the fortifications, allowing us to take it over. But, even in a mine controlled by US conversion of less than 10 people took multiple weeks. Add to that that this is clearly some kind of Temple, which is likely to have evil protection on it, and it's not going to go well.

Here's my alternative.

Send our smoke wraiths in, do reconnaissance of the area, see where their defences are strongest, and what assets this town has to bear.

First, reconnaissance. Having extra information is good.

Secondly, our army is not made to take fortifications. It's made to hunt and raid out in the open. Therefore, we need to get our enemies out of their fortifications or our forces inside.

We know our enemy has ample food to survive the winter, so starving them out is probably not going to work. Water supply may be easier to sabotage. If it comes from a mountain stream, then we can try to block or reroute it. Once the people inside go mad from thirst, we can take over the fortificiations.

The alternative is to attack the enemy from an unexpected direction. Perhaps summon some black imps to dig us a tunnel into their fortress, or try to attack from above?

+1 this can be done quickly and we can plan after that.

Yeah, we should focus on our actual goals, for the moment.

If people think we have too much power, summon some Imps, rather than creating yet another front to keep track off.
