Give the guy that we just met the memory of having talked to our OTHER mind-broken priest, who is the priest for this town, then give said other priest matching memories. Then we can just send them both on down to talk about how wonderful and totally normal Fellshore is.

If this is possible, we should do it. +1
It may be possible. Only one way to find out.

NUKE9.13, what legends of demons apart from us do our cultists have? I understand it's been centuries since one has been sighted, but it would be wise to learn from the mistakes of our predecessors. It would also be wise to learn of any Angels that have existed in the past millennia or so.
Your cultists are simple folk; they know next to nothing about demons or angels. The two priests' minds contained some more information, but nothing useful; that demons once terrorised mankind with their evil ways, but no longer exist. That angels once fought with the demons, and eventually won, or at least, they assume they must've won, because why else would demons be extinct? Whatever the case may be, angels disappeared around the same time that demons did- some say they did not disappear fully, but rather went into hibernation, till the next time their services are needed.

Hmm, good to know, good to know... Is this the same world/timeline as the last Demonhood? Just asking, it'd be interesting to eventually run into Krlnkir Yrlvnt and his legions. Here's a few more questions,

How much power does it take to make a Sacred Wordbearer? How much would it take to upgrade the Smokewraiths so that they are able to manipulate the physical world, using weak smoke tendrils and claws as sharp as an iron dagger? Do cultists fuel us by their worship, or by the fact that it's an unspeakable evil to worship an incarnation of evil? Is Nokluvgn able to copulate with mortal women without expending power, resulting in no offspring? What kingdom are we in, and who rules the kingdom?

I have a few questions

1. Do druids exist, so far as our peasants and priests know
2. Are there any legends about the nearby forest
2a. Ones about a "Heart of the Forest" or other such mystical place within it.
2b. Ones about dryads or other forest spirits and protectors
3. With enough demonic power, could we eventually corrupt an entire geographic area.

I'm thinking that in the near future we may wish to corrupt the entire forest with our demonic power. Turn it into a terrifying maze of clawing branches and howling monsters. This will
a) greatly increase our reach and control of the region
b) provide us with a whole host of animals and plants to change
c) give us a defensive barrier that can easily be explained away as magic bullshit that isn't our fault
d) be hella cool.

Maaaaybe. It certainly functions the same way.

Quote
How much power does it take to make a Sacred Wordbearer?
1 physical, 1 mental. The process is not guaranteed to work.

Quote
How much would it take to upgrade the Smokewraiths so that they are able to manipulate the physical world, using weak smoke tendrils and claws as sharp as an iron dagger?
This is already the case. I'll write up a glossary entry for them soon.

Quote
Do cultists fuel us by their worship, or by the fact that it's an unspeakable evil to worship an incarnation of evil?
Yes*

Quote
Is Nokluvgn able to copulate with mortal women without expending power, resulting in no offspring?
Yes, but why would he want to?

Quote
What kingdom are we in, and who rules the kingdom?
First off, we are in a republic. Name: Jilgalia  Ruler: Lord Gospodin*
The republic is situated in the north of the area known as the Lakelands, with the capital being a port city on the northern banks of Grand Lake. They favour worship of Jilganheim, due to his aspect of the god of Freedom, to the extent that the country is named after him.

1. Druids do exist, though the priests have no idea what exactly they are or where they might be found. The villagers are completely clueless.
2. Of course, every forest has them. Though this forest is not especially large, as after about 10km the mountains start, and rise quite steeply.
2a. Alas, nothing so fancy. Perhaps elsewhere such things may be found, but not so close to Fellshore.
2b. Forest spirits, yes. The standard tripe about protectors of the wood, make an offering before cutting down a tree, yada yada yada.
2c. Recently, the forest is said to be inhabited by a demonic wolf.
3. Yes.

EDIT: Added some stuff to the glossary. Entries added: BRUTEWOLF, DRUID, FELLSHORE, SMOKEWRAITH

Corrupting the landscape is something we do by accident, not on purpose. The corruption that we've already leaked is already attracting unwanted attention.

I think you're missing the point of what we are and what we should be doing. I'm tired of playing on the defensive, and this plan will have a low chance of them ferreting us out. An entire forest turned into a horrible maze of death and spooky bullshit isn't easy to trace back to a villages being kind of spooky. Most priests/other people who might be able to make the connection should be killed by the dangers of the forest before they get here

Ideally we should have a different aspect/cult for the forest. Some sort of horrifying nature bullshit, a monster created to rend and destroy the weak civilizations of man. If the priests think the forest bullshit is because of a pissed off spirit then they'll waste time on that rather than looking for our cult.

Yes, a second cult in midgame we could even have the cults battle a few fights to spread confusion...A complete forest full with creatures that is maze-like will likely cause interest in wizards and such so we should be careful and implant the maze forest step by step. Maybe we should change the land besides the road in the forest, so travelling is still easy for wanderers, unless they step off road...

I'm not sure we want this to happen. He would probably just kill us for being competition.

By the way, now that we know that we live in a republic I have a course of action for the urban sprawl. While first building the forest into a maze, later on we must infiltrate the cities with smokes and also with another inflitration units. The Saintly Seductresses and Saintly Seducturs. These beings will present them as admirable people with interesting qualities. While the smokes scout out the likes and the dislikes of politicians and men of wealth and power, the Saintly Seductresses and Seductors prepare to give these politicians just that. Depending on their personalities, we can exploit them with their weaknesses, slowly turning the republic rotten.

Here is my plan:

One Sacred Wordbearer will stay at Fellshore to lead the cult in our absence.

We'll send the Brute Wolf to ambush and kill lone travellers and villagers alone at night. We have no use for him here, and he will spread Terror far and wide, distracting the attention of the Priests and increasing our income.

We'll send one of the Smokewraiths to scout out Nuulyd, and inform us of their numbers, devotion, and martial strength. We need to know what's going on over there.

After that, Nokluvgn will take the Mind-Broken Priest Slave, one Smokewraith, and one Sacred Wordbearer and go to the nearest city, burning and razing homesteads and small villages along the way. We'll mentally dominate the weaker minded villagers, and convert them to our worship. We'll consume the souls of the peasants who refuse to worship us, and turn their bodies into slave husks. We'll turn their dogs into weaker Dog versions of Brute Wolves. If we encounter any holy men, we'll break their minds and turn them into Slaves. By the time we're there, we should have 20-30 cultists, and plenty of Brute-Dogs.

We should then use those to raid other villages on their own, while we infiltrate the city, and find the thieves' guild. We should claim to be a wizard.

Hmm. A meeting of priests, you say? I think I sense opportunity here. Does anyone else think we're up for the task of corrupting a meeting of the buggers? Just imagine how our influence would spread if we got the lot of them subtly spreading our cult...
Hmm.

NUKE.913, did the priest mention how many priests are meeting here? I'm somewhat interested in traveling to this meeting place, burning it to the ground with the priests inside, and then turning the lot of them into Sacred Wordbearers.
