Eh, given their immediate next thought was death chambers with people packed in several times tighter than actual clown cars, I think they just don't like the the cries. Death itself, they're fine with.

Well, if you use magma-safe metal for cage, then perhaps they could get a corpse trap to use with necromancer with careful planning?

Anyway, for the original question, I know setting merchant flag has been previously used with dfhack in a plugin to make unhappy dwarves emigrate out of the fortress. That might work, and maybe they'd even return as normal visitors?
Magma is always the humane option. It works so quickly they don't even have time to scream!
Depends. Dwarf who falls into a volcano can live quite a while, but screaming is only generated in combat reports (though after a report exists, they sometimes put their thoughts in them).

Now, wait... Before you paint me as a mass murder, I just said I was pasturing them.  I didn't say I was going to build death chambers :-).  TBH, I'd rather not kill them because it breaks the history of the game (which is a big part of why I play DF).  You've got these people touring the world, visiting every fortress and suddenly it all stops at my fortress.  I suppose it would make sense if you were building some kind of horror scenario, but my fortress is called "Moon the under-water" (the closest I could come to the very popular British pub name, "The moon under water") and it's primary purpose is to run the world's best tavern.

I'm not so keen on the "Come visit our pub and get slaughtered" advertising ;-)  Hmmm... if I reanimated their corpses, I could decorate the pub with bone crafts of previous visitors... hmmm... No!  That's evil! But still...
