I decided to simplify combat rules. The way it was before is that you could attack multiple times in one turn, but you get a penalty, but you could create a chain of actions dependent on one another and that would not confer penalties.
The new rules as written allows you to still attack multiple times in quick succession, granting your enemy only one counter-attack for the whole string, but you get a penalty.

Previously having a string of attacks dependent on one another would give no penalty. Now there is no distinction like this, but you don't automatically fail as soon as you miss one link in the chain. You just roll again and take an attack off the end of the chain.

So... functionally similar, but it lets me compress more combat into one turn, which is good because there is a long lag time in between updates.

DBZ said merging minds with that tome could be suicide, and it's probably a fair assumption it's a good time as any to break off that interaction. Let me see if I can whip up a post.

"Why not a repeating crossbow? That'd be easier. And what's that about a giant spider and that tome?" Gilles asked, deciding to examine a different subject. Preferentially a less feisty one. He also wanted to make sure the excitement had died down before offering his goods.

"We found it down here, in a side passage. You could have it, if you want. Didn't do us much good so far, and we'd be good as dead without you guys."
