The raid

Your head feels like it's swimming away from your body, but eventually, you manage to get a grip. You try to swallow the rock that ha become your throat, and tape a deep breath. You feel like you're calming down again, although you honestly cannot say what you just decided to do. You put the helmet back on, and march with certainty again. Not that you ARE certain about anything, but hey, fake it 'till you make it. The local banditry keep their distance, even after you managed to relax your posture. The only man who is still close is Thorgal, who looks a little concerned, and Laiko, who has not stopped looking smug. You feel disgust boiling up inside you look at his smile. What everbody here is about to do is nothing worth smiling about.
Nothing at all.

Eventually, you see the thing you dreaded. In the distance, you see a church-tower. The bells are already ringing, signalling to the town that the army of bandits is drawing close. You feel like you can even hear the screams of the villagers as you come closer. Vvulf begins to run, and the army follows. The buildings grow ever taller, and the bell ever louder. It seems to reverb through your very bones! The sun shines in defiance for the depravity that is about to happen. Vvulf bellows the order to spread out to you, and you spread it to the other groups, using your legs to the best of your ability. Soon enough, the other lieutenants do the same, and you return to your group, turning the group to the right as Vvulf's group goes to the left. The bandits begin to scatter, and soon you are left with nothing but your squad around you. They take on the practiced positions, and you wait just outside of the town. You see the guards have begun to form up. They are with far more than your own village, they must have upped the security...

Theme...
The area has turned quiet. Even nature itself seems to shy away from what is going to happen next. No bird is singing, no wind is whispering. Just nothing but the hard breathing of men, and that damnable sun shining down. Then, you hear the bellow of Vvulf, and the army descends upon the guards. You go forward, hardly thinking as you draw your sword. Laiko has moved to the front, and is pointing for the squad to go inside a house. When you arrive, Nakir kicks the door into splinters, and horrible shrieks fill the air. You enter the home, and more screams are heard. Three children and their mother stand in the corner, Fear visible in their eyes. most of your squad begins to loot, as Harahkilaka comes closer to the children. Your head feels foggy, and it takes a while for the hare-man's words to register.
These will make a fine trophy...
He draws his blades as he steps forward towards the family. The mother, terrified, grabs a stool and tries to hit him away. The hare grabs the weapon, and rips it from her hands. Then he smashes it against her head, knocking her down. He hits her again as the children scream in terror. The rest of your men are too busy overturning the house to care, leaving only you... Frozen in place. You're too scared. You don't know what the hell you should do! You need to..
Have to.
Going to.

You jump forward, and sting Harahkilaka in the back with your stinger. He screams in agony as your venom penetrates him. You strike him with the flat of your blade and screech in anger! No human could make the sound you have made as you tell Harahkilaka to get up. He groans in pain, so you shout again, before rougly grabbing him by the arm and keeping his filthy little maggot face to your eye level.
You won't do anything without my permission, you little worm!
The children are frozen in fear as your eyes fall upon them. The mother is crawling over to them, intent on using her body as a shield for whatever you have planned. These things are your prey. And they shall know it!
Beg for me, mortal.. Your voice, reverbing through the helmet is cold and tinged with sadistic pleasure. The mother gets on her knees, and obediantly begs for the lives of her children. A pleasure unlike any other swells in you as you look at them, crawling for your honor. A smile dawns on your face, and you tell them to leave. You order Nakir to escort these people into the forest. You must take care of your pets, after all... you laugh to yourself.

Then, a torch flies through the window, setting the cheap straw aflame! You order everybody out, and so they do. Nakir, Laiko, Robbie and Bobbie quickly leave, but Harahkilaka is still writhing on the floor in pain. You are a merciful god, of course.
You pick him up again, and put your teeth to his throat. You tear away a solid piece of meat, leaving his last words a tortured gurgle. Nobody saw your mercy, of course. Or more accurately, nobody cared. Your little pets are so caught up in stealing they hardly even noticed your disciplining. You quickly leave, before the fire cuts off your escape route. When you go outside, you see that you squad has already engaged a group of guards. They look to be lead by a man with a battered iron shield and a mace, and are rapidly gaining ground through your followers. You won't stand for this disrespect. You gather up your scattered followers, and create an organized counter-attack. The guards, few in number and fewer in worth, quickly fall to the onslaught of bolas, daggers and the crushing blows of your goons. You laugh as two insects attempt to attack you! Their teamwork is excellent, of course, but as you counter and disembowel the one before you, you jump backwards, piercing him with your stinger! The venom does its work, and while he writhes in pain from your gift, you tell him to crawl. When he fails to do even that, you grab him by the hair and open his throat.
Soon enough, only the commander and two of the guards remain. Their helmet hides their fear, but you know better. those shaking knees, that unsure stance... Those two guards look ready to flee.
You give them the opportunity.

Flee! See how far you can get!
Despite the protest of their leader, they try. True to your expectations, Laiko and Thorgal chase them down and slay them. Laiko takes them down with quick strikes to the legs, and thorgal finishes them off very quick and very cleanly. Spoilsport...
That just leaves the leader. You wander closer, but he is unshaken. This insult...
You charge forward, trying to pierce his mangy hide with the tip of your sword, but he successfully reflects it with his iron shield, and begins taking steps back. He is careful to look behind him, for what, you don't know. You have just ordered your own dogs to leave this heretic be. It's just you, and him. You try another attack, this time trying to throw in a hit from your stinger, but he effortlessly reflects your attacks, and manages to his your sides. The burning in your ribs only serves to anger you even more. You stomp in anger and yell. In that time, he has actually managed to reach the largest group of guards, which have all gathered around the church. You see no civilians around, meaning that they must be in the church, most likely escaping! You screech again, causing the local bandits, and even your own pets, to back off in fear. Soon enough, an all to familiar cirkle has formed around the men defending the church. Vvulf is at the forefront again, telling everyone to halt! That maggot has no right to give orders to you! You are about to go forward anyway, until a large collection of hands grab your human half and pull you back. They remove your helmet, and put their hands over your mouth. You turn to them with a look of pure rage until two strong hands shake you.
That's enough, Sydney!

As you hear your name, you feel like something just... clicked back into place. You feel sick...
Vvulf is giving his ultimatum to the town guard, which has been reduced to just two dozen men. Everything that happened before this just seems like a haze to you, and you have to resist the urge to retch. What... just happened?
You don't have time to think again, as you hear the town leader shout his answer. You can't quite register what he just said, but you turn around in time for Vvulf's answer.
So be it!
A blinding light, and a horrible bilge of smoke erupts from the middle of the group as they are blasted apart! Whoe-ever isn't dead or dying, is dazed. Vvulf throws even more bombs, with enough force that some die from the impact alone! Soon, nothing remains of the guards but smoke, gore and blood.
That horrid smell of blood.
Vvulf enter the ruined church, and you hear a shout, followed by a roar and a slam. After a short moment, Vvulf steps out again, carrying an aritfact shaped like a gilded, full moon. His shield is covered in blood.

He begins to laugh, and starts a speech to his bandits. You feel too sick to care, and wander off behind the bandits. You vomit on the ground, clutching your stomach. The vomit is blood-red. What did you DO?
What follows is another haze. You refuse any take of the haul, and just think. Or,more accurately, you just stare at the ruined church as more disgusting bandits go in and out, prancing around with artifacts and fancying themselves gods. You look away in disgust.
Eventually, Thorgal joins you, who is nursing a wound on his shoulder. He has already bound it up.
...I can't say I'm happy about how you dealt with this. But I'm glad you spared the civilians. Even if it was pointlessly cruel. If this is how you deal with it, then so be it. Harahkilaka was a damned swine, anyways.
What did I DO, Thorgal?
He looks at you in disbelief. Then, something seems to dawn on him
You are trying to cope right now. Whatever it was that you did, it doesn't matter now. Most civilians managed to flee. The guard may be destroyed, but it was not by your hands. It was all Vvulf. Remember that.
Don't let it haunt you for too long.

He turns and leaves, meaning you are alone in a field. You scratch your arms absentmindedly, hardly even noticing when you draw blood.

Join the looting.
It's horrible to do. But, you need to keep up appearances?

Talk.
You need to have a chat with somebody. Something to try and get your mind off things.

Try to leave
It will be nearly impossible to leave, but you can try. Not that it will end well...

Preserve the town
It will be hard enough for the people to rebuild without their valuables. Try to save the buildings.

Quiet time.
Find a quiet spot, and just try to relax

Other...
Anything is available. But it should probably be something to keep your mind off of things. Be it through work, or some other way to prevent thinking too hard about this raid.

Join the looting, but only get the best things, don't pointlessly steal from these poor people, only take stuff if it's just too good to be in the hands of the bandits.

The Collecting bandit.

You decide to loot, if only to keep the best stuff out of their hands. You crawl into the church, using a hole in the wall to get in faster. It may have been four meters up, but you ARE half-spider. Crawling inside, you see that most of the obviously expensive stuff has already been looted. Some people are fighting over a well-carved idol, but they neglected to look under the table with the most valuable things. Some amulets, with minor enchantments. As far as you know, these are mostly for the priest, and are said to improve meditation and speed up healing. They aren't strong enchantments, by any means, but you'd prefer no bandit would heal faster from their wounds. You put on the amulet that provides improved meditation. It kind of feels like a cold shower for your brain when you put it on, but you're glad to have it. You rub the wound on your shoulder you scratched open. There's some blood there, and it stings annoyingly, but you honestly don't care. You ribs have stopped burning, at least, so nothing should be broken. You don't even remember where you got the hit.

You look around in the basement of the church as well. On a hunch, you decide to look behind several statues. Sure enough, you find a lever, revealing an escape tunnel large enough to allow the town to escape. You smile sadly, and close the tunnel. You resist the urge to cry, and move on. There's nothing here except minor valuables, and the tomb of some great knight. Whatever equipment the man might have had should be rusted and useless by now, so you leave it be. You're not about to go grave-robbing, either way. As you leave to go upstairs, you run into Jack, who looks as excited as ever.
Sydney! Just the person i wanted to see! How'd it go for you, Sid? I was too busy fighting on the other side of town, but you're the talk around here. Apparently, you made some of fools around here wet themselves with just a scream, how'd you do that? Is it like that time with the little prick in armor? you know, first time you ever saw Vvulf? God, that was a good battle!
God damn it, she just doesn't shut up! Yap yap yap, you can't even get a word in as she she puts her arm over your shoulders. She leads you outside of the church, not ever stopping her talking for even a minute. You don't even know why she's asking so many questions if she doesn't even want to hear an answer. Apparently, that's just how she makes merry, you suppose. You manage to steer both you and her towards the town hall, the second place you'd look for exceptional loot. She quickly gets the idea, and lets you go to help search the place. multiple bandits are already ransacking the place, but you hope to find something of use before they do.
Jack is ready to go search, but you'd prefer not to have this lady around for the time being. You tell her to go upstairs, and point with one of your pedipalps. The sudden reminder to her arachnophobia is enough to make her leave without complaint.

Your reputation seems to precede you, as most bandits immediately leave the room if you enter after taking one good look at you. One of them even handed you a lock-box he found before leaving. Guessing from the smell, he might have soiled himself. As a result, you decide against keeping the little box. There wasn't anything notable in there, anyways. Some gold pieces, and some personal items. A picture and a locket. The owner must be pretty rich if he could afford to get a picture. You decide to leave the box where you assume the bandit found it. You look around a bit more, but find nothing. You are about to leave, until Jack manages to snatch you again. You decide to push her away a little using your spider bits, which works quite well. She keeps a little distance, but she's back to excitedly talking, this time about the fighting she did. Apparently, she works together with her brother in fights, and uses some acrobatics. Despite what you were planning, you can't help but be interested in what she has to say, now. This town is still rather small, it's unlikely anything more interesting than the amulets would arise, so you decide to just talk with her. She reacts well to questions, and soon enough, the both of you are just sitting against a fence, talking things out. Eventually, some jokes are even made and you even manage to find some enjoyment. You feel guilty for feeling even a modicum of joy after what happened, but eventually, you decide that you need to accept what happened.

It doesn't take long before people start gathering up again, meaning that they will soon leave. You sigh, and get moving. Now you wish you didn't spend so much time looking for "special" loot. Jack separates from you and joins up with her brother, who is glaring daggers at you. You shrug, and join the line-up Vvulf prepared again. He is standing on top of some crates of what you presume is food and similar bits. At least one box is filled to the brim with carrots, for starters. So you can guess what's going to be on the menu from now on. You curse under your breath. You hate carrots, they're the abomination among vegetables. Everything they touch just becomes yellow or orange, it's disgusting!

You don't even hear what in hell Vvulf is saying. You're quite tired of his damned speeches, by this point. Looking at the other lieutenants, you can tell by the glazed look in their eyes that they stopped caring a long time ago. It still has an effect on the lesser bandits, however, shouting when he asks for it. Eventually, people begin to move, much less organized than before. People walk together haphazardly. Jack goes to your side almost instantly, and your squad does the same. Jack's brother is not far behind, but he keeps his distance when Jack stares at him with the intensity of a couple of suns. You just chat pleasantly. You feel like you've got a pounding headache, but thing might just be all-right. The march back to camp goes easy enough, until, suddenly, the line stops. Vvulf has stopped moving, and is standing on boxes again. This man probably went into a life-time of villainy after his acting career failed. You can't see what he's doing over the sea of people, but he's talking again.
Then you notice that he has his shaman next to him. You get a bad feeling about this, and look at Thorgal, who seems to have the same idea. Laiko also seems uncomfortable, strangely.

Then, a deep rumble goes through the ground, and the trees shudder. The leaves seem to burn away, and the trunk turns gray. They crumble, revealing they have been burnt to ash! A wide open area has been burnt into the earth, a horrible scar through this once lush forest! The closest remaining trees must be a half a kilometer away! You cringe in fear as the skies turn red with ear-shattering thunder! An unholy, black lightning strikes the spot that Vvulf was standing on, and a red wave blasts forward, engulfing everyone! At first, nothing seemed to be wrong.
Then, the screaming starts. That horrid screaming.
Then comes the pain. A deep, burning pain centered around your paint nearly overwhelms you immeadiatly. Your vision starts to swim as you can only scream, and in the edge of your vision you see Jack buckling over, screaming in agony. The burning is too intense for you to pay any more attention. You need to be freed of this, now!

Why fight me? Nothing on this earth can stand against me.

Tear the paint off!
The pain is nearly unbearable, you need to get this paint off!

Call for help!
You need something, anything to help you!

Fight the pain, help the others!
You can fight this! Others may need your help.

Run!
Run away, into the trees! you have to get out of range!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Things are about to get as nasty as I can make it.

+1, But I'd say only partially remove the paint. If we are completely unaffected by this, there is a good chance Vvulf/The Elder God/Zombified Bandits just tear us apart for not being one of them, and in our weakened state, I doubt we could handle it.

+1 to first thing because it makes sense, -1 to addition because if we tear the paint of Vvulf could get mad.

Flesh and Horror

You clench your teeth, and force your eyes open. You ram your hands against your chest, and try to get your fingers under it as the screams around you become more and more tortured. What was once a scream of fear, rapidly turns into a scream of pure primal pain and terror. You can't get your fingers under the thick paint, and it hurts even more when you come close. It is a burning unlike anything you've ever experienced, until finally, you grab your sword and CARVE a part of it away. The cool sting of the blade feels like a relief against the horrid burning, and soon enough you managed to start pulling. Your damned armor gets in the way, the harness most of all. You put your sword at the most important straps, and grind through. Soon you are naked, but you can finally start pulling it off. you scream in pain and effort as you remove the horrid paint in one large strip. The pain goes away for every part that no longer touches your skin, and you almost think clearly again. You stop pulling when the only thing left is the moon on your lower back. Finally, you can focus enough to look around, first focusing on Jack.

She is still doubled over in pain, and her screams have begun to sound hoarse. You try to pick away at the paint, but as our hands touch her shoulder, the flesh gives! Your hand is sticking inside her flesh. You release her immediately in surprise, and see how the flesh of her back seems to bubble, as if all her insides are simultaneously rebelling. Her skin begins to discolor in purple and blue splotches, until finally four fleshy bubbles seem to grow even larger than the others. They reach almost a quarter meter as Jack continues to scream breathlessly. You are frozen in shock as the top seems to burst, and blood and pus begins to gush out. The skin is the only remaining thing of jack that remains, until finally the sharp appendage bursts out, growing in size from a quarter meter to almost three in a blink of an eye. Jack has stopped screaming. You finally wake up from your stupor and step back. A bandit bumps into you, tearing at his own face with his bare hands. You remain focused on Jack as she turns to you, crawling on her hands and feet. She looks at you in pure terror, trying to say something. Then her arms begin to shake and quiver violently, until they...
They split. A shard of bone seem to grow right through her hand, leaving the meat to slowly slide off. Only her head still looks normal, as the underside of her torso seems to rot away before your eyes, the organs flopping on the ground like those of a water-bloated corpse. She crawls forward to you, looking like a caricature of a spider, squealing out her final calls for help until, suddenly an explosion of gore happens. You look away, covering your face as you feel teeth land against you. A gurgled cry forces you to look again. Jack's jaw has split in two, making a horrifying mockery of mandibles. Her eyes look bloodshot and glazed as she still tries to walk to you. Until they, too, melt out of her.

Your stomach convulses, and you vomit on the floor, and it takes every fiber of your being to not start running in terror. You call out for help, but your yell goes unheard against this horrible backdrop of screams and tearing flesh. The creature that was Jack screeches, and steps over you with its massive, sharp and spindly limbs. In its panicked run, it stabs through some other bandits, sticking them on her sharp legs. The burning of your moon tattoo only grows worse, and you almost fall to the ground in pain. You manage to crawl back up, and look around for anything that could help. In front of you, a bandit is stumbling, screaming that he can't control his hands. He repeats it, again and again, until finally, his hands enter his mouth and pull. The face seems to stretch, until it snaps off, revealing the skull. His skull itself seems to laugh as it takes off the rest of skin like a damned suit. You flee the scene, as your tattoo continues to burn. You look for your friends, and soon you see Nakir, who is just standing there with a glazed look in his eyes. You can't grab his attention, even as you pull on his arm, and suddenly he begins to walk towards the origin of all this. Black lightning still seems to strike the spot where you saw Vvulf and you see an army of unaffected people wander towards him in a daze. They aren't many of those, as many others are still tearing off skin, or bubbling and twisting in a new shape. You manage to find some others, but they are too far gone. The Bolas brothers have melted together into a fleshy blob, and each wears a different expression that seems to change. Even that is twisted and wrong, making their faces seem like putty. Skoom was tearing at his neck until, finally, his head split from his body. The dwarf's body falls down, while his spine, still attached to the head seems to slip out of there with a sickening noise. Your body convulses, your tattoo burns even deeper and you begin to hear a strange singing deep inside your thoughts...
It's wonderful.
Your eyes glaze over as..

Suddenly, the singing stops. A man is on your back, grabbing at the paint, until finally he manages to tear it off. A relief washes over your body as the paint is removed. You hear Thorgal's voice, but you can hardly see. You vision is blurred until, finally, you can see his face. He looks terrified, but there is a certain sense of determination, still.
You need to stay with me, Sydney! Come on! We need to get out of here!
You shake your head, and just follow Thorgal. You see Rouge to the side of you, twisted in impossible contortions, moving impossibly fast. You rush through the hordes of people, still changing. Some are disemboweling themselves, using their blades, in an attempt to make it stop. They only partially succeed. There is a creeping numbness as you continue to run, as shards of bone and swords scratch you. You are covered in blood, most of it your own. Suddenly, you see Laiko in the distance, wearing a glowing amulet. You hear him scream in terror as he attacks a pig standing on its hind legs and wielding a ball and chain. You grab Thorgal, and point to Laiko's predicament. Thorgal nods, and charges forward, sword held high. He gives the pig a mighty hew, and the ugly head falls off the cursed creature. Thorgal then instantly continues running, towards the unburnt trees. The morphing flesh, and screaming bandits is not infinite, and finally you touch the ashes of the former trees. Suddenly, you are stopped. Two hands are holding on to your hind legs. Unthinking, you pull forward, and when the force is no longer pulling you continue running. Finally, you reach the trees. Once you step outside the ashen circle, whatever pain remained has stopped. Laiko immediately proceeds to vomit against a tree, falling to his knees in the process. Thorgal himself is the only one who still has all his wits together. You turn around.

Some other survivors are sprinting here, they must have seen your group leave. Among them is Yunikki, covered in blood. Her armor seems dented and scratched, but she runs without issue. She seems to be un-injured. Some other people you don't know also join, and each perform their own actions. Some of them, with the adrenaline fading, fall to the ground, exhausted. One of them, shaking violently, pulls out a flash. When he removes the cork, a foul gas springs out. He screams as it hits him, and he throws the bottle back into the circle. Small, crab-like legs sprout from the bottle, and crawl towards the horrors happening not fifty meters from you.
In the distance, you see a monster, larger than all others. He is shaped like a sack, with only his head serving as a reminder that he was once human. Tendrils seem to jump out and grab other victims, keeping it into it's ever-growing girth. It must by up to four meters tall, and it just looks... collapsed.
You notice his paint looks a hell of a lot like Jack's brother.
Jack...

You notice how heavy you are breathing, and look around as you hear a loud beeping in your ear. Your heart feels like it's going to pound out of your chest, and finally, you begin to cry. it's an ugly, undignified crying, you sob, you wail and cover your face as you drop to the ground, defeated and exhausted. Thorgal looks on, sitting on a tree stump.
Time passes. You don't know how long, but eventually, Thorgal's hand touches your shoulder. You turn to him, holding in a sob. Then he hands you his shirt. You had honestly forgotten you were naked. The shirt is covered in blood, but you appreciate it all the same. You are slowly calming down, and look back at the carnage.
The black lightning has stopped, and nothing is moving anymore... Just flesh, blood and clothing remains of what was once a mighty bandit army. Even with everything they did, nobody alive or dead deserved this. Suddenly, a creaky voice speaks. You recognize it.
He has done it... The heart's gestation has begun.

Calm down
You're shaking. You need to find a way to calm your nerves.

Ask questions
What just happened, Why are some people unaffected, How did the blind woman get here? You need answers!

Check up
Look if anybody here is injured or needs help. Some people here are probably worse off than you...

Huddle up
Get the remnants of your squad together, and try to find some semblance of peace in that.

It's quite a dilemma to write something you wanna write in a lot of detail in a frantic tone.
I just compromised with Jack's conversion, I suppose.
