Lets just get weapons, the shields aren't properly sized for our left arm, and we should ask around to see if we can get one made.  The concept isn't that complicated, after all, and neither are the materials, so it should be a lot easier than custom weapons.  Plus if people like making fancy ones, there will be someone to make a custom one, possibly one that fits the claw better.

And get two scimitars, as we keep losing or breaking them, so a backup should be okay.

After that, we should get to the tower, to check out blue guy and see if anyone is giving a shit about all the people deemed mundane being murdered by plague.

Eventually we're probably going to move over to the claw, but there's no reason we can't keep the claw in reserve, or attack with two hands, for instance.

I'm also an idiot.  We should have smuggled the vial in via bird.

(I wouldn't retcon that, though)

..... DAMN

okay, we still can say that they probably have some sort of protection from airborne creatures

So... 2 scimitars, 80
 proper shield 70-???
let's buy at least 2 bolas? we can train later, let's just not let this skill be tottally forgot

total:170-??

I... I... kind of liked the Ram Dao, can't we carry it for back up instead? for when we get really angry or want to damage something REALLY bad? I will not insist in this because it's luxury

there is ANYBODY that make flintlock pistols? we can offer them a partnership, we show them our little recipe, and he pays us with a gun and some ammo, and part of the profit ( minus the price of the revolver and bullets) for the next time we meet him or for the next months

it's still a HUGE deal, he will have exclusivity in a foreign new tech that will make clients go nuts on his direction

I don't mind buying a ram dao, but I'm wondering if anyone else would like gear.

Also, we can do that with the next sample.  I do want to get that as quickly as we can.  I'm okay with sharing information on flintlocks, (end of the world, who gives a #### about revealing secrets), but we may have more important stuff to work on.. perhaps Suzy should do that bit.

Plus, it'd probably be the best if we do our research outside the walls, at least at first, to limit the potential dangers of contamination.

You know, maybe we should split up to do things more quickly.

Yes, we should ask if anyone needs anything first before buying this "luxury"

(I wouldn't retcon that, though)
I was willing to retcon the drider discussion because it was a muddled voting situation. Looking back and realizing a better way, however, won't fly. I am far too nice of a DM as it is, I'm not taking it that far. Honestly, I feel conflicted on how I can't allow you to die in a single update, but the survival option is always obvious and too sensible to leave. You fellas DID survive on nothing but good dice rolls at least twice, though.

Does anybody else need something?
I could use a quick refill of my ammo. That'll set me back about 100 coins if I want to get fully topped off.
I make my own stuff. And if I need something, I'll see about getting it myself before using funds. Frugality is important, especially if we're approaching apocalyptic scenarios.
Hm. I could use an alchemy kit, if you would.
No.
You'll consider it, sure, but let's not get her hopes up. Not to mention, giving her tools like that is likely to backfire in some regard. You just glance at Yunikki, but she shakes her head instead of answering. Well, at least it's clear. Looks like you only need to spend 100 extra to please the whole party on expenses, at least for now. Let's add about 50 if you want to treat them to a hot meal. Now, you decided you're going to get two scimitars, and possibly a Ram Dao as a backup. You've rarely used a big blade like that before, but you figure you can make it work. Of course, can you make the costs work? You decide to leave that up in the air for a few more moments as you gather information on guns.

Now, your book still didn't really appriciate the mundane information you wrote down on it, and you can tell the ink is getting a bit faded. Fortunately, Hal has paper and a pen. Unfortunately, your handwriting was always kind of bad, but your drawing skills leave much to be desired. The diagrams are likely very important when it comes to forming the guns, and you just don't have the skill to pull it off. Hal is in a similar boat, not really being in a position where drawing happens a lot. Sucy outright refuses to try...
Then Yunikki takes the pen, and draws it perfectly. What.
Did calligraphy for a while. I was okay with it, and I managed to make a few drawings.
After a short while, the drawings are on the paper. As for the sentences explaining the process, that will still be your job. Yunikki may be able to draw, but she doesn't much care for writing. Also, looking at the book for even short amounts of time gave her headaches. She can't seem to remember reading it out of a book, either, which is kind of worrying. She still couldn't see it outside of when you explicitly wanted to show it to her. Oh well. You spend some time writing down the sentences while your party looks around for anything else of note. Hal returns with a report from the bounty board, explaining that they want a nearby bandit camp taken out due to suspicions of being infected with the plague. The reward is "to be determined at the end of the contract with the Order of the Blighted Beak".  Of course, the bounty note also states that humans, orcs and dwarves need not apply. Which kind of opens the question on who the hell would take it anyway, as there are absolutely no people around OTHER than humans. Not even a single orc. Well, apart from the rare servant drider that you are already getting sick of seeing. It's SO creepy to know they're probably your half-siblings.

Well, that all puts it together... If you want to research this stuff outside city limits, you'll probably want to get a tent of some sort. Sunstroke is not a laughing matter. Also of note: plague-resistant clothing. It's available, though combat must be difficult in it. Getting a set of that stuff is going to set you back 150 coins EACH! They're obviously screwing people that want protection, and guessing from the two large guards next to the slimy-looking salesmen, you're not the first one to get righteous indignation from it. Well, it complicates things a bit...
Unless, of course, you find another way to get those outfits.
Well, that's some further consideration. But you don't know where to find a smith in these parts, let alone one with the tools for this. You should keep looking, after buying whatever else you need.

45 bolas is a pretty concrete choice. Could always spring for that if the others choices aren't solid enough to count...

Can we compromise a mid term of two scimitars and 5 bolas? anyway, I am voting for it, that will make two votes for the double scimitar and two votes for 5 bolas depending on the way we are counting votes

Let's buy that Ram Dao later if we ever have a bigger surplus of money, or if devastator or someone more that isn't me or Egan decides for voting for a Ram Dao, even a iron one.

Good news, Hal, you're going to carry more arrows.
Excellent. Thanks, Sydney. Don't worry, I'll go do the shopping myself. You get to look on what new shiny exciting things you'll be sticking into people.
Neither of my options are stab weapons, per sé.
Fine, sliding into people. Or crushing? I don't know. Whatever. You can keep watch over the eight-legged rascal, right?
I'm not going anywhere, ESPECIALLY if I get to work on a new transformative plague. Really, I'm quite excited. Francine says, with a soft smile at the end. You don't share the sentiment.
Don't say that out loud. They'll take it the wrong way. Sucy says, looking intently at some particularly pretty glass objects. The saleswoman is shouting rather loudly that the prices are good, though it's not in a language Sucy understands. You know it a little bit, from when you had eastern visitors at the inn. With this plague around, you bet your dad is making a lot of money. He's clever enough to start a quarantine, and it's not like he's against applying some needed violence. Your town is likely a proper bulwark!

Anyway, you move back to the Ram Dao salesman, and point to the steel billhook blade. The merchant laughs, showing off his gilded teeth (and plenty of black ones.). His breath is indescribable, as you just haven't eaten the raw quantity of eggs and unidentified vegetables to reach even an approximation of the horrors that come loose from that man's mouth. He speaks in a pleasant common accent, and his voice is nice, but you'll be damned before you can hear it over the damned smell. Regardless, you pay for the Ram Dao, throwing a sack of coin into the man's lap. He weighs it on a scale and after he bites the coin to check if it's real, he seems pleased. He stands up, bows and even gives you a big sheathe for your back to put it in. Despite the size and weight of the weapon, your massive claw takes to the weight rather easily. Switching hands really makes the weight clear, as it falls against the sandstone, not even bouncing. After some more effort, you manage to lift it, though it's kind of hell on your wrist. This is most certainly a two-hander. Unless you've got a freaky demon arm, but you suspect you're kind of an outlier.

Getting a basic scimitar wasn't nearly as noteworthy. The salesman there doesn't even look up beyond sticking out his hand to ask for the money. With the guards being close-by, you decide against trying your luck with the snoozing salesman. The scimitar is much better in your normal hand, though you don't particularly care for the large blade. Your bone scimitar is still going to be rather effective, but its good to have backups. All in all, though, this has been rather expensive trip. 440 coin in all.
Well, that was a lengthy shopping trip. At least you're finally ready to get back into the swing of things.
