Name: Kogara Coda
Gender: Male
Sex: Male
Appearance: A tall, thin man who has Jet-black short hair with spiky bangs. They wear black pants and a black coat with dark-gray trim and an intricate dark gray pattern on its surface, as well as obligatory edgy jagged frills. If coda has anything to say about it, the coat will never open, and will never come off. Kogara Coda wears a crimson red scarf, which is excessively long and never stops flowing in the wind. It never catches on anything. He also wears a pair of criminally fancy black shoes. Only knows five facial expressions: neutral, steely determination, creepy/sadistic grin, furious and in agony, NIGHTMARE
Weapon: “Daemonis Caudam”
A malformed sword made of a charcoal-black substance. Its blade has a full double edge, but the core is nothing more than a mesh of tendrils of the substance which makes up the sword, and the blade is nicked in several places. It is about a meter in length, and the hilt is little more than a pair of very short spikes. A long chain of the same substance that makes up the rest of the sword connects at the pommel; this chain runs up one of the coat’s sleeves and is melded to the character’s body. It can never be removed.
Fighting style: Has three forms.
Form 1: normal form. Daemonis Caudam’s chain is at its normal length, and can be used like a normal sword. In this form, Coda favors many quick strikes over few strong strikes, but strong, decisive blows are not uncommon. Daemonis Caudam can also be thrown to attack at a distance using the chain. The chain is basically just a chain at this point, but Coda has an unusual amount of control over the blade at its end, and can throw it out for a stab or swing it at the end of a chain for a wide slashing attack. The chain reaches out long enough to effectively triple the length of the sword.
Coda’s sword skill is great, and he strikes true and fast in this form. Mostt incoming attacks are dodged.
Form 2: awakened form. Daemonis Caudam’s chain unfurls from within the depths of the coat, and a portion of chain now lies on the ground, dragged along as the Coda moves. Another chain of similar length (with no blade attached) appears from the other sleeve. The dark gray trim and pattern on the coat begin glowing crimson red. The scarf also gets a lot longer and begins flowing menacingly, as though it might suddenly lash out in attempt to sting someone. Furthermore, An eye appears within every link of Daemonis Caudam’s chain, bloodshot and darting madly in all directions. Another eye, moving more slowly and with some degree of focus, opens at the center of the sword’s hilt. The mesh in the blade’s core begins pulsing with a crimson red glow.
In this form, the chains become prehensile and move with blinding speed. Coda can fully control every link. The chains are now much longer, and can reach for about 30 yards, more on occasion. The blade can freely attack with a flurry of deadly slices anywhere within this radius. The free chain can be used to grab onto things, to pull them closer to the character or vice-versa. A mere touch to any part of the weapon, including the chain, causes intense pain. God forbid you get cut.
Coda dodges attacks much less, being more likely to tank the blows and draw power from the resulting pain, or to catch them with the free chain. Upon coming down from this form, Coda becomes weak, assaulted by terrible pain, and must take several hours to recover.
Form 3: nightmare form. The weapon’s fully awakened form. The sword becomes nearly five times its size, the spikes on its hilt much longer and the blade itself becoming jagged. Myriad chains pierce through the coat and pile in long, winding loops and coils all around Coda, each link sporting an array of sharp spikes. He now uses them like a thousand iron tentacles to move around, gripping the landscape. A crimson red aura glows intensely from the Coda’s body and from the chains in this form, and he now wears his nightmare face. Horrifying.
The blade can be swung so fast it seems to be everywhere all at once, reducing large groups of people to a fine red mist. Each chain is strong enough to bash or squeeze to crush through solid stone pillars, and has a grip which can reach for over 100 meters, up to 10 kilometers if the entire chain (and all its loops piercing out from the coat) is straightened out. Anyone who is not titanically powerful or very well protected is torn to shreds in horrible agony upon touching any of the chains. Coda can travel incredibly fast in this state. There is no escape from his wrath.
Despite his improved speed, Coda usually makes no attempt to dodge incoming attacks. It’s very hard to harm him in any relevant way in this state. Upon coming down from this form, Coda falls unconscious, overwhelmed by pain, and may wake up days later.
Backstory:
This man had no past, and no future. His life was utterly boring and uneventful. For so many years, he had felt empty, and began traveling to seek out something that could give him purpose. One day, traveling through a desolate mountain, the traveler encountered a mysterious blade, with a long chain attached to its pommel. Out of curiosity, he laid his hand on the sword’s grip, intending to pick it up. Then, a horrible agony began flowing through him, piercing to his very soul.
The man saw through the eyes of a demon, born of Hell, who had done no wrong in their life, but was captured regardless by a holy knight bent on punishing all those who they deemed to be evil, and dealt horrible, agonizing tortures that no being had ever suffered before. Day after day, this agonizing illusion flashed throughout the man’s conscious mind, years of torture jolting through his very being as the demon’s screams formed a chorus of pain and despair, culminating at the moment that the demon’s tail was severed from its body. Finally, after ten days, the flashback stopped, and the man awoke lying in a pool of blood.
The man contemplated the visions which had flashed through his mind. He had not imagined anyone could commit such atrocities, but the demon had endured soul-tearing agony for no reason other than the dark energy it possessed. The man sympathized with the demon’s pain and anger, sickened by the atrocities committed by the holy knight, and swore that they would avenge the demon. So they took the sword in their hand, and their transformation into one of the demon-touched began.
The chain rose and drank the pool of blood into itself and the blade glowed crimson red with the essence of pure pain. The demon’s skin stained the man’s hair black and wove itself into a long coat which covered the man’s body. The chain’s end crawled its way up the man’s right arm and wrapped around his body, fusing its end to his back. The crimson liquid flowed through the man’s veins, granting him the demon’s essence and branding the coat with the symbol of the demon. Quelled by the man’s own temperance, the glow of the blood began to fade, and the crimson sigil on the coat faded to a dull dark gray. The man had become one with the tail of the demon.
And so the man had become one of the seven deadly sins, and embarked on his journey to purge the world of the holy knights who had wreaked such pain on so many.
