The Darkness trait?

Darkness trait is as follows

100 ft radius of complete darkness [x5]
500 ft radius of complete darkness [x12]
1000 ft radius of complete darkness [x25]

The reason it is so high is because complete darkness is very, very good in combat situations and in causing fear.

EDIT: Does relay effects the traits of the monster who itself has relay?
