Random mute traveling expedition leaders?
« on: November 16, 2016, 10:29:43 pm »

I've encountered these guys in multiple versions of Adventure Mode while traveling (usually at night.) Pretty creepy. They're named and described, but don't talk and sometimes even somehow deflect your conversation questions back at you. I've killed at least one before; I think he fought back, but I'm not sure.
Some example screenshots:

The creepypasta subject in question

An attempt at conversation.

Pretty spooky, huh? Anyone else seen these dudes, or have an explanation?

He's not asleep, is he?
Also, is it from one of those "camps" in which apparently travelers rest for the night?

So uh, yeah you just murdered a until proven otherwise pretty neutral innocent being for no reason.

They're untransformed werebeasts, I think, though it's odd they haven't gone hostile to you.

I'm pretty sure they are dwarven reclaimers camping for the night, the next day they will head over and reclaim an old fortress which will make it an active site again (if the likely FB or mb in the fort ruin doesn't kill them) Its unfortuante they cant tell you where they are going, seems like an oversight, becaus eyou could heasd over and clear the place out for them.

Wait, dwarven parties actually physically reclaim old forts in Adventure Mode? Now I'm tempted to try modding in halflings... :P

Untransformed werebeasts actually do talk, and answer to everything with "I hate you.". You can identify them that way.

How cool is that. After all these years this game still manages to surprise me sometimes.

They do it in general, even while you are playing fort mode they are running around on the world map reclaiming.

oh yeah now I remember it has to do with civ ids or not being apart of a civ, those mute folks ended up taking the traits of bogeymen or zombies if they happen to be exiled from the world.
