Election Day, USA!
« on: November 08, 2016, 04:07:21 pm »

First off, THIS IS NOT A POLITICS THREAD. There's the general American Politics thread if you want to engage flamethrowers debate the merits of various candidates. This is purely a thread for today, the Presidential Election, and it should peacefully fall into the depths after a week or so.

So anyway, this is a happy little place to comment on (and commiserate over) the past few weeks. Did you vote? Will you vote? Were there any silly or amusing measures to vote on in your state? Are you munching popcorn from the safety of another country? Are you sick and tired of political ads?

And so on, and so forth. Have fun, and please don't summon the Toad.

Voting's not a Constitutional right.

You only have the right to not be denied due to race, gender, etc. Felons can't vote in most states.

Boo-ess-ay
Boo-ess-ay

Seriously though, the question is not who is the better candidate, but who has the better VP, cuz they'd both be assassinated less than two weeks into office.

Not much chance of an assassination, tbh. Not that it would change the relative merits of the candidates much, ha.

And gods, yes, yes there has been HL. Alt-right broke into our election cycle full force and we all suffered for it :-\

I see that Politico has partial results for N.H., and Ky.

Only about .3% counted, but initial turnout is strongly trump.

We will of course know more as the night unfolds.
(Regardless of which wins, we will get the president our nation deserves. I will leave it at that.)

Yeah, initial results are mostly useless. Iirc one of those two are based on something like a total of 75 votes. Not 75 hundred, or thousand. 75. Be a bit more time before we see anything that actually means much.

What's a good site to stream coverage? I was recommended CNN, but they cut to adverts a bit to much for my liking.

why listen to taalking heads anyway? just vapid filler.

just find a live coverage map, like politico or some other reasonably reputable reporter, and check every so often.  Google said they would cover it as well.

I like seeing the results trickle in - I did a similar thing for the scottish referendum vote and for the brexit vote and enjoyed them. For those I used the BBC coverage, but I prefer the more in depth analysis that the american sources are offering, though not the ads.
