Giant sponges: the new war mount.

So, giant sponges have the tag EXOTIC_MOUNT, so I was wondering if anyone has ever seen one ride one in a siege.

an they even go outside water without suffocating? or does one need a undead giant sponge to ride?

Pretty sure they air drown, and I'm guessing that the game actually does check that before trying to generate mounts.  I've never seen anyone riding one at least.

Welcome to 2012, and enjoy your stay - giant sponges being flagged as potential war mounts has been known for a very long time, and I'm pretty sure nobody's ever seen it happen.

On one hand, giant sponges aren't great fighters and are aquatic but on the other hand everything else accounted for.

THEY ARE INVINCIBLE. (Well theoretically if sponge is still as durable as it was before.)

I've killed one by dropping boulders on it (0.40.X)...
