mural curtosey of foxtrot (he created and posted this in less than one hour, holy crap!) You can ask your manager for gear each time you survive a round, and she'll toss you the closest thing around.
Advice: Please the crowd!
Random starting gear upon signup.
Progression: There are 3 acts to your career as a gladiator. Winning is important because it means staying alive but if the crowd isn't impressed, you've made no progress. You need to become,
famous.
Act 1 Mook Slave: -1 appeal +2 dodging
Act 2 Recognized Indenturer: +1 dodging
Act 3 Exhabition Freeman: +1 appeal (bonus gameplay, be a boss, special events, you are retired)
(remember you will collect better gear over time)
Turns will be daily. Disclaimer:
I may...
Sometimes or even often take breaks from the game.
Test out mechanics that are different used before.
Bend or break my own rules or expectations about what the game is. This is an experiment and I may even abandon the game. It may not reach any perfect conclusion. Or even last long.
Design goals
Keep myself interestedThis means variety and design. Repitition is dull. Though some repatition can invite interesting strategy.
Quick, few turn battlesReal fights do not last as long as they do in the movies. In real life a punch hurts, let alone a sword.
