Zero stress, but everyone is angry?
« on: October 31, 2016, 10:33:52 pm »

All of my Dwarves and critters have begun flashing a '!';
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Yet Stress levels are all fine (-3k:-40k).  A few have 'bitter argument' and 'no goblet' bad thoughts, but are otherwise constantly drunk and sleeping in their own bedroom.  I'm going to assume that Stress is more accurate here (no danger of a Fortress-wide brawl).  Still though, I'm curious what might be causing this.

Arguments can make them angry, but that wouldn't work on all the dwarves...

As Fleeting Frames indicated, flashing red exclamation marks indicate they are enraged. It's odd, however, if all of the would get enraged. However, their thoughts should provide some indication, as should the battle reports. A typical thought is "enraged by all the enemies" (when "all" might be the other dorf the enraged one had an argument with...).

Don't take them into combat with each other, my own experiences with goblins show that enraged units (If memory serves you can see the rage on the (V) unit general screen near the top of the ui) strike out at 'enemies' which counts for people they don't like in this state, a group of friends will be fine to pair up fighting alongside each other, but absolutely mad and angry units will count anybody they slight or grudge at as a target.

> "Lost to rage" starts combat immediately, this might be a wind-up earlier form of that?

Check their relationships on the Z screen, they might have a grudge forming between one another based of annoying traits (conflicting values etc).

There are a few grudges, but in a Fortress of 49 Dorfs, nothing major.  Also, all my critters are enraged, even the Plump Helmet Men ???  There is no Burrow active since I walled off the surface.  I'm hoping that if I can disperse the siege, they will return to normal.  Although the enemy is 30-strong, it's all Hungry Head zombies.  Hopefully copper maces will be enough... :-\

Could this be a Forgotten Beast syndrome? All your animals should definitely not be enraged.

The USA election is a week away, that's probably it. They have begun to infect digital as well as biological systems.

The beginning of our own '28 days later' scenario was three weeks ago before the entire world is infected by RAGE.
