Do you play in reclaim world gen forts much?
« on: October 31, 2016, 04:30:56 am »

I have started doing it more often, as it has pre - made rooms, with plenty of food (that usually rots about a month in) p, and large stockpiles of everything else you will ever need. There's even usually stuff in the bedrooms. I use an empty hall as a throne room for meh nobles usually, and once I found a hall which stretched over 2 z - layers. I haven't even started going into the deep, dark depths of my fort yet...

I've once reclaimed a fort for the explicit purpose of re-establishing a library (found in legends mode) - sadly few wanted to visit it that time, but still a way to get lot of books quickly.

The pre-made rooms are something of a curse when you prefer your own layouts though :P And the biome and material picks are likely not as good as specific look for what you want (though you can occasionally get interesting block materials for the forts).

Unless you happen to like mountains (I don't), in which case they are definitely more attractive, and easily placed.

There's also the small matter of current residents, of course :P

The one I'm currently playing is built out of native platinum blocks. Also, yes, current residents.

I once reclaimed one that said it had been destroyed by goblins, but in reality... Well, screams started coming from the cavern below. Everyone died not five minutes in.

Same world as the platinum blocks one I'm playing, actually. I can share a save (If you want and can tell me how) so you can grab the candy artifacts my dwarves made and then go demonslaying.

I personally like mountains. Not enough wood, though.
I also don't really mind what the layout of a fort is, as long as there aren't any pointless coridoors, and walls in the middle of nowhere, but they're easily fixed. I usually get lucky about residents, though. I once embarked on a human town, though, and it was infested ipwith all sorts of nasties. Mostly, rhough, they just stand there, and don't do anything until they starve because all of the food has rotted.

Platinum blocks? Wow. Mine is made from granite.

I don't like them, they are too similar to each other.

Same thing could be said about the little bearded buggers.
