Heh.

Captain of the guard Sankis: "You shall go mad...And then gaze upon the face of gods and rave."

Human trader Thrasteriń: "Shouldn't that be other way around?"

Sankis: "No." *pulls lever*

Type of god is relevant (death gods incur necromancers specifically through worshipping legends events, sort of cultistically swearing allegiance to the god for a slab describing necromancy), though it might just be that because your goblins are off site invader without pantheon gods they wont be affected by the gods of your civilisation. Humans have a pantheon of sorts for curses and most elves/goblins (if the regional force doesnt count for elves) are likely to be converts of curses.

Goblin gods are usually plentiful and colorful fellows anyway, for lack of specific spheres they symbolise anything evil (gambling etc) and are directly involved in demon spire creation stories more actively in preference to dwarven gods. A goblin god might be able to curse its own citizens, or interact with other beings not native to the site (since then all the races in your world will be tapped into religion) to your intentions.

Interesting! Not to patronize, but are you sure? Because that neatly explains why my goblin captives would not be cursed.

I'll just need to figure out a way to attract......... extra...... citizens and maybe some visitors.

Perfectly reasonable to be speculative, here's my goblin death god giving a goblin civ wolf-woman scholar a slab with the secrets of life and death on it after commiting pretty much fanatical worship in the midsummer of 30 on my world. The perfect vice is my goblin civ. The gods being required is speculative on my part, as it'd be a good thing to try anyway, a god can only punish its followers and most events of defilement happen in worldgen temples generated by religion worshipping gods for the glory of said gods visited by its followers and entity members.

I play with goblin central race all the time in a separate backed up raw modded version of 43.05 with said religion, i held onto the save but i commend your work in poking at the fine cause of weaponising and hand picking were-'s like any good DF scientist.

Following this new found observation from FantasticDorf, can you make temples from other civs if you get petitioners from those civs? Like, if you allow a goblin into your fort could you then make a temple to the god they worshipped? Or would they just change their god of worship/use the general temple?

Gods are infectious, often a telltale sign that a necromancer is on your fortress is that the death god they are associated with (if they have one) will turn up on your new temple gods list. A large range of travellers have a equally large range of gods which they pray to in different amounts and bring it into your fortress.

I dont think that Duna's gobboes he has trapped would be willing to convert to faith. But you can certainly keep them around and try for science.
