I'll do a MiFi 15-rune run because it's not that hard. After that, idk. I'm not great magic stuff but getting better, so I might try a MfSk run. After that, I'll do a DrFE (or whatever draconian fire elementalists) are abbreviated as, and then I'll try assorted builds that look good.

I kind of want to do a FE of Uskayaw, so I can combine Pain Bond with Fire Storm and cackle evilly. Aside from that, I might do a VSFi or a DsFi if my z finger gets tired. Since I actually have a good offline felid game going, I might try to win one of the little fluffers. And most likely get killed by a goddamn slime creature or caustic shrike, but tis the life of a pretty kitty.

... I'm not particularly impressed with the .19 changes (it's not terrible - removing decks is nice, but the spell changes and the Kobold thing aren't to my taste), so I think I'll wait ...

What is the Kobold thing??? Outside the tourneys, I always play trunk, then always get confused trying to work out which changes are not yet in the game for the tourney. I don't remember any particular Kobold thing... the handedness size thing?

edit: Ha, I have obviously not played a Kobold for a while, they got pushed to what, being better enchanters? I love enchanters.

They wanted to make halflings and kobolds more different, so the former is now a better heavy fighter and the latter a better stabber and caster.

Well it's not like we have much to talk until the tournament starts, so :D

In my opinion the game is currently the hardest it has ever been, in general. A lot of the powerful escape options have been nerfed or removed (haste, cTele, evokable Invis, even limiting evocables to a single unit of a type), and each branch has enemies that can easily necessitate the use of an escape option if your character isn't above-the-curve-OP. Combined with the shortened levels, which limit not only the experience available but the loot you can get, this results in forcing you to specialise your character a lot earlier than before.

A character which is kinda meh at two types of killing will now have a much harder time surviving until both are up and running, since for example Orc is now a ton harder for weaker characters, and you may end up rune-gated since Depths will not likely be an option.

On the other hand the game is the easiest it's ever been to start playing, so I can get behind this. There is no wand identifying minigame, no consumable destruction, no permanent corrosion, no stashing, no corpse sacrifices, food is relatively streamlined, no weight - all of these are good changes.

Still prefer Tome4's combat though. If only the expansion hadn't gone steampunk. Oh well, not like anyone's forcing me to play it.

Added to the list. There's the rc file changes that need added.

Then on that note, the tournament pages are now up for testing, so now's a good time to make sure the lines are added.

Well... uh... this is awkward. I meant to start a game on Berotato's experimental Thorn God server while we're still organizing teams, realized I accidentally picked .19 tournament, figured I'd just run with it for practice... and pulled off a 15-rune win that's currently the high score.

Does that run still count for the team, even if it was finished before joining? ><

And since we're discussing it, I did Lair>Spider>Swamp>Orc>Vaults>Elf>Slime>Depths>Crypt>Tomb>Abyss>Pan*5>Tar>Dis>Geh>Coc>Zot>Out.

Forgot to sneak in a Zig dive, though I doubt I could've finished it.

You now have the dubious honor of being the 10th-highest player with the test data. Shame it doesn't stick around for the real thing. :(

I always like looking through the clan list for the witty names people come up with. I think I'm going to cheer for Team Clever DCSS Pun amidst my own play.

whoops, guess i missed this thread...

i can usually put a few 15-rune wins into a tournament and was on the .17 champions team so put me on whatever team still has space...

miners is fine! i was only #4 on the .17 champions team so i don't mind going down a little if it helps fill out the team, and gives someone else a crack at champions. my upside is kind of limited because i'm not good at any particularly exotic species. at best i can thrown an OgAM victory in.
