Anyway, seems to me a few people are building money lenders a little too early. get the first marketplace upgrade you can before doing so, you'll start making two gold per freeman.
Really? Taxes and moneylender demotion both occur yearly, so as long as both upgrades are complete by September the exact order shouldn't matter - unless I've missed something?

@Taricus: We all start with Marketplace I. Upgrading to Marketplace II is 400 gold and 200 material. Moneylenders are actually cheaper here.

This seems cool. Outsiders probably shouldn't influence diplomacy but I want to point out from a game design standpoint that limited resources may have been a conscious choice because competition over resources creates natural conflict.
