Tiana slowly nods at Veikko.
"I guess that sorta helps. Thanks?"

"Don't sweat it, it probably ain't in the syllabus and more a technical or academic distinction than you know, something that helps with the practical stuff."

Mister T looks at Tiana and Veikko, and for a short instant seems almost sorrowful.

"I apologise, in attempting to explain things adequately for Miss Anna I may have neglected my other students.

He walks over to the board, and with a quick flourish, a simple animation plays out.

It shows a young boy with a wizard hat attempting to cast a spell which eliminates everyone in the vicinity's ability to use magic - including his own - and failing. He casts the same spell again, but this time making sure to stay outside its radius. As his opponent loses the ability to cast magic, he smiles.

"You could cast a spell that took away your ability to use magic, but it would have to be on a timer, rather than something you could end at will."

"Dimension. Is that what they call the place you live?"

Alex whispers to Relspi.

"Don't worry about it, I'll explain later if you like."

She grins at him as if it's a gesture rather than an expression, curving her mouth forcefully upwards.

Alex nods, though adds something else to his confirmation with a small smile.

"You'll also need to work on your expressions a bit."

Tiana now notes down the animation, now seeming a bit more confident.

Anthelia pauses from admiring her nails to write something down, although she doesn't look happy.

[SOLDIER First]

Lyle raises his hand.

[UXLZ]

Lyle had barely began to raise his hand before Mister T indicated he could speak.

Acair seems to be quite interested in the chatter, while Medea and Alice keep their heads down to take notes.

Anna nods.

"Perhaps more like magic is an extension of physics, but yes."

[UXLZ]

If an anthropomorphic bird could look minutely sad, the look on Mister T's face would be that look.

"In the future, that belief may harm you. I suppose that will be when you learn, rather than now, and if it does not harm you and you do not learn, then it does not matter. Try to be careful."

He waves his hand and a "3." is etched beneath the second law, but before the third law itself begins to form, he waits for Lyle to speak.

[SOLDIER First]

"Sir, why are we discussing the theoreticals of magic on the first day of a basics class? Shouldn't that wait until, maybe, we understand what magic is?"

He glances pointedly at Anna.

[UXLZ]

"We are discussing a small part of the theoretical area of magic as our first lesson because these laws are important to know going forward. Would you explain division to a child without explaining that you cannot divide by zero? As self-evident as the second and third laws may appear to be, they deserve to be iterated. If you are anxious to strengthen your power, do not worry. You will have that opportunity later."

With Lyle attended to, Mister T finishes etching out the third and final law.

"3. Magic cannot create an absolute."

Walking back and forth at the front of the class once more, he begins an explanation similar to the others on what exactly the third law meant.

"The third law is, similar to the second law, one of the few logical laws that magic actually follows. Its name is somewhat self explanatory, but I will endeavor to explain."

The teacher makes a gesture, and once more a simple animation plays out on the board.

This time, the young mage casts a spell forming a length of wood upon which you see the word "Unbreakable". A hulking man picks up the wood, and snaps it over his knee. The mage frowns, then creates another piece with the words "Super Strong". This time he stops the man from picking it up, and smiles at you.

"Magic, for all its power, has one thing it has never been known to do. While objects touted as unbreakable, weapons described as all-destroying, effects believed to be unstoppable, and powers considered invincible have existed in the past, all have eventually been broken, stopped, or defeated. The only absolute it might be able to create is absolute zero, but that is a different type of absolute to the kind we are speaking of."

He stops and nods, continuing his explanation.

"This may seem obvious to you, but the primary purpose of this law is for you to keep in mind that no matter how strong your abilities may be, you can still be defeated. No matter how sharp your sword, things it cannot cut. No matter how impenetrable your defenses, things that can slip through. Overconfidence will lead to a painful defeat."

His speech concluded, your instructor once more asks for queries.

"Are there any questions?"

"Wait, magic can create absolute zero?

How on earth could it do that without pretty much breaking the universe?

...And so the unstoppable force-immovable object cannot actually happen."

Anna is still taking notes.

Tsakaka looks solemn but understanding, writing down the third law immediately. "This lesson is wise."
