She fiddles with the papers.

Lunya, still groggy and only showing up now, takes a random empty seat near... Anna.

Heather of course sits to Imhotep.
Isaac sits next to Medea.

Lyle sits in the front.

Willow sits near Imhotep.

Anna waves Relspi over.

"Look, I know I said I needed them by tomorrow, but wasn't just then a bit too late? Even I barely got everything sorted in ti- Yes, I know the students are listening. Yes, I knew you were going to point that out. No, I don't think it's unsightly for a teacher to be seen arguing with the headmaster. Why? Because differing perspectives are good for young minds, of course. No, I don't think your clothes make you look fat, I don't even know why you're bringing that u- Well, I do know, but that is something I'd rather not mention in front of my class..."


This continues until all the students are seated, the supposed teacher paying them no mind until the instant the last one has settled whereupon he immediately becomes silent (seemingly dismissing the wisp) and rises, before walking out to in front of the black board. He is quite tall, and while some may have expected talons or chicken legs, if the blue dress pants or black leather shoes were hiding anything you could not tell.

"Welcome to Magic 101. Today you are blessed with the dubious honor of being the first class I have ever taught. My name is unpronounceable in a way familiar to most human languages, but I believe some of your student body refers to me as "Mr. T." As I would rather not be associated with a rapper predominantly featuring in candy commercials, any other moniker would be welcome. I will allow all of you to decide on that at the end of the lesson. For now, I want you to write down roughly your understanding of "magic" is. Discussion with the people nearby or indeed the entire class is allowed and in fact encouraged, but do not yell across the room."

His small speech concluded, Mr. T. continues to stand by the whiteboard, almost perfectly still save the gentle undulation of blue flames.

Aiko was seated somewhere near the front.

Medea starts dutifully writing away. Acair, surprisingly, seems to follow suit.

Only Alice looks around for discussion.

Aurora looks somewhat blankly at her paper for a moment or two before looking around at the other students.

Vijaya begins writing fairly quickly in a regular hand, though it appears to consist of capitals and slightly smaller capitals.

"What do you think?"
Isaac turns to Acair and Medea, but particularly looks directly at the latter.
Heather nods slowly, then writes down without discussing what she thinks.

Imhotep begins scrawling messily, her english handwriting obviously needing a little work.

Aiko has been writing pretty much since they started... and then muttered a curse as she realized she'd wrote it in her native language rather than in the one used here.

I don't really know much about magic.

I know I can...Transmute energy into different kinds of energy, and one of them is magical energy.

I know that raw magical energy, without form, is destructive.

I know I can sort of shape magical energy, and I can sort of...Perceive it somehow.

That's about it.

Isaac shrugs, then goes to writing down his answer.
