"I guess it is pretty breath-taking, I didn't catch your name by the way."

She extends her hand, a slight smile on her face.
"....my name is Alice. Alice Hollingsworth. It is a pleasure to meet you. And your name?"

Tiana turns around, and sees Alice and Veikko speaking, and walks over to them.

"Uhh...hi? I'm Tiana, and I've talked to like absolutely one person here, so hi. There.

Tiana grimaces.

[Empiricist]

"Veikko Diefenbach, the pleasure's all mine."
He gestures to the youth near him, before tapping him on the shoulder
"That's Lyle; Lyle, meet Alice and Tiana."
He then motions to three of the dorms
"Hans and the other guy who doesn't know his powers are in that room, Alison went in there with that other girl, Vijaya went in there."
He pauses and grins
"So, what do you two do? Other than worrying about your dorming and social-life and getting needlessly profiled by your powers?"

Tiana grows a small smile at this, and waves her hand at Lyle and Alice.

"Well hello, Lyle, Veikko and Alice! As I've said, I'm Tiana. Nice to meet you all. I like to cook, read, and paint mainly. I'm pretty into art."

[Empiricist]

"I like puzzles and biology, I hope to one day become a great surgeon, I've definitely got the right kind of magic to back it up, so there's that. Not that I know enough about it yet I'm afraid, but we're all here to learn, I guess."
A goofy smile spread across his lips
"Am I hoping too much that any of you can magically anesthetize people?"

"I'm...uh...good at sewing, one supposes."

"Sewing? That sounds great! I've always wanted to learn how to sew.
Tiana than looks at Veikko. "Sorry, nope. My power is that I'm kind of a human bubble blower, you know?"

[UXLZ]

Alex's eyes snap open. Nap complete. Quickly checking the mirror, it seems that he was not defaced during his sleep. At least the roommate wasn't that sort of person.

After making sure of his tidiness, he then walks out into the common room, asking the first person he sees if they knew where Ashley went.

((Switching to navy text))
"Oh!"
Veikko's eyes seem to to sparkle mischievously for a move as he begins trying to push Alice's back from behind towards one of the girl's dorms.
"Come on Tiana! I'll introduce you two to someone interesting!"
The destination is of course, Selina and Alison's room. He raps his knuckles against the door.
"Alison in there, happens to sew as well, she sews her very magic into clothing..."

"Ah!"

[Empiricist]

"Huh, guess they're busy unpacking, well, you'll know where to find her then!"
He pauses
"So what was that about bubble blowing? Care to demonstrate?"

[UXLZ]

Getting no answer, Alex decides to just experiment by himself. Perhaps he would find a clue.

Taking a pool ball and laying it on the ground, he starts performing a variety of actions and poses, drawing inspiration from his formidable knowledge of various entertainment media.

"Fire! No, didn't work."

"Light beam! Nope."

Imagining the air around the ball freezing, he tries again.

"Ice!"

Still nothing. Maybe he needed a wand.

"Move!"

Did he imagine it, or did the ball wobble slightly? No, must have been a momentary lapse in concentration.

"Lightning! Wind! Darkness!."

...

He just sighs, slightly out of breath after going through a huge variety of possibilities. Not a clue. Not a peep. Maybe his power was something really weird, or maybe he wasn't invoking it correctly. This world might even function on the rule that you need to know your ability to use it.

In the end he decided to just sit against a wall and wait to see if something interesting would happen. Maybe there'd be an explosion, or a near-death situation to unlock his latent power.
That was normally how the story went, anyway.

Tiana looks a bit taken aback by Veikko's question, but shrugs it off. "You want a demonstration? Well, here goes nothing."

Tiana's face takes on a look of intense concentration as she balls her hands together. After a few tense moments she opens her hands, and in the middle of her palm, rests a glowing blue bubble, now starting to slowly float up. "Tada? I can also control the bubble with my mind, I guess, but that takes some more effort. Go and play with the bubble though, it's a bit more durable than a regular one.

[Empiricist]

"Oh! You must be a hoot at parties! Tried anything with it? Like, trapping small objects in these or anything?"
He experimentally brushes his hand against it, and, when it presumably doesn't pop, grins and passes it between his hands and looks for which of the other three looks up for catching it.

Alice looks impressed by it.
"How....intriguing. I'd imagine you could find many uses for that, hm?"
