Buckling into your EVA suit is, as usual, an irritating process. However, soon enough, the suit of micrometeorite strike plates and space-grade fabric shrouds your form, descending in the elevator. Bracing, you grab onto a handle before the doors open and the air rushes out. For a moment, you float before the electromagnets in your boots turn on and lock you to the floor. Taking careful steps, you enter the bay to see the interceptor's mangled and scorched cockpit. Indeed, there is nothing but a burnt out uniform where the pilot was. Taking your eyes slightly right, you stare through the hole in the floor. Roughly one-third of a meter, the hole seems easy enough to repair. The hole in the corridor is probably small enough to be repaired by the ship's MetalloFoam capsules, judging from the size of a coilgun round in the cockpit.

Looking through the interceptor doesn't reveal much of interest, with most systems either destroyed or obsolete to you. However, the ship's 'prow' armor is rather fascinating. Rather than being brute-stregth metal, one layer of the armor seems to be composed of an ablative paste. under pressure, the paste temporarily hardens and some of it evaporates away. Interesting...

Repairs are rather uninteresting, and involve melting down the interceptor's metal components. During the process, you get the idea of working on 'Psion', to strengthen the effects of it's powers, but after repairs, you simply don't have the energy. Plus, the bay still isn't fully pressurised, and entering containment would lower the oxygen content in the cells too much. With work done, you pilot the ship over to another orbital path, and rest in your cabin. The psychic sheep in your dreams become ever more vivid.

Use the bio-generator to make the control chips biological as well. Much harder to spot and replicate if the ohmines get ahold of anything. Also makes them harder to remove.

Good idea. But they should be biological in some way... hm. Let's abduct some myooohs for biomass, then shape them into a giant spider thing. We'll plate it so it can temporarily(as in, long enough to do repairs) survive in space. And we'll use the biofab to make it so it can stick to the hull of our ship with its "feet". And we'll throw in a better than average control chip that'll let us remote control it.

That seems needlessly convoluted when we could just have a robot that's Built to survive in space. Why bother with intentionally giving something pesky organic frailty when the entire point of making the repair drones is so our pesky organic frailty doesn't apply?

Once resting has ended, and you've ingested the necessary nutrients, the science is ready to begin! First project, new Psion! For this one, you go to an island in the far north, known as 'Greenland'. For a second, you stare. Green? Really? These heuimaens must be blind. Abducting people in this land of glaciers is a little difficult, though. None of them want to go outside, for probably good reasons. With enough rattling, some finally do leave, every one of them holding a chemical-kinetic accelerator. Even as the tractor beams clutch them, one fires twice into the aperture. Thank you for the scuff marks, puny creature. Now, with a group of six subjects, you begin the copying process, as well as the control chip.

This one seems to retain some speech. It mumbles an odd word, then, in front of it, a testing apparatus begins to float. It rises slowly, floating a meter off the floor. It mumbles the word again, this time loud enough to be translated. The result has no meaning to you. The subject is saying some nonsense word, 'Jedi'. With some testing, it seems the subject can lift any object under two hundred pounds, up to two meters high. Throughout tests, it says other, nonsense words. These include 'Kenobi', 'Yoda', and finally one that does have meaning to you. 'Force'. It seems odd that it would talk about an element of physics, though.

Despite the message on your console, you decide to continue on your next project. A repair drone. Graveyard orbit will be a lot less full, soon enough. On design, you work out a spider form, with the legs embedded with electromagnets for grip. The central 'body' will contain a stock of one-third meter square armor plates, and a plasma welder. Repairs won't be perfect, but it will work. By the time design is done, you've collected enough metal and electronics for this to work. The fabricators begin production almost instantly, tiny nanobots forming the metal into shape. You now have a repair-spider roughly the size of a huemun 'Car'.

At last, you turn to the beeping pilot's console, where the screen you know well appears.

We may have enough basic data to make a proper soldier.
For the next experiment, we could start by assessing the good and bad points of the experiment subjects:
Subject #001-A2, Abomination - pretty useless, though it allowed us to get insights.
Subject #002-A, Hunter, Electroclaws, Biosuit - A good basis for a soldier, if we could get it to actually obey commands...
Subject #003-A, Runner - If it's faster, it may cover more ground
Subject #004-A, Electro, Teslahead - instead of installing the laser through the brain, let's try using those useless sinus cavities and the ugly cartilaginous lump that the vermin have in their faces. To prevent blocking breathing, open new nostrils higher up
Subject #005-A2, Venom, Poison Tentacles - By itself it could be a separate base for another type of soldier, or the tentacles could be implanted on the hunter
Subject #006-A, Psion, Emotional Influencing - Another hunter upgrade, or a standalone support, but only if we can get it to broadcast something useful like... hate for hyumins. That'll make our soldiers fight better, and fill the hyumins with hate for themselves and each other; if we're lucky they might even kill their disaffects or themselves.
Subject #007-A, Jedi, Speech, Telekinesis - This is great, and would be very good if we could make the soldiers have both psion and TK.

Let's try to use all this knowledge and make a soldier prototype with all the modifications.

Action: develop drugs meant to generate emotion. Hopefully we'll find one for hate. Which we can use on Psion to make it broadcast hate. Another action: Modify Psion to generate a more concentrated emotion beam instead of an omnidirectional emotion field.
