Not a typo.  The repair drones I think are secondary in priority compared to fabrication drones, and your developments.  We may need them, but a little too early to tell.  1 Unit generously allows for other priority projects to progress while we deliberate.

If there are other projects, they can redefine their priorities as they are proposed; if there aren't, you'll have to post again to avoid wastage.

We really need an estimate on how resource intensive your project will be but, I have one we need to prioritize.  The refinery suit.  Lets get mining and we can work on that production as we wait.

>queue research project: advanced refinery suit, assign units [9];

Mining Drone: 15x Basic Metal + 15x Basic Components + 2x Advanced Components + 10x Basic Electronics utilizing precise fabrication suite. Thruster-based non-atmospheric mining drone. 10x internal storage and returns 5x of a resource per 2 processing cycles.

And yes, we'll need the Precise Fabrication Suite for Advanced Components.

I'm thinking of the Mining Drone taking a Fabrication Drone along to refine the ore into basic stuff on site, and carrying the less bulky refined stuff back to the ship.

The Fabrication Drone is really just mislabeled at this point, because the name was taken from Overseer AI where it could actually fabricate items. Repair drone = basic hull-type repairs. Fabrication drone = (relatively) advanced repairs. The current advanced or regular fabrication drone schematic can't actually fabricate items.
EDIT: Fixed error in cycle report. Repair Drone finished surveying, not repairing.

You can start research tasks immediately after some processing units are freed. So if a cycle lists a task with 1 cycle to go, you can just treat the processing units as if they're unused in your actions.
"[3] ... ETC: 1 processing cycle" is essentially the same as having [3] available for your actions.
Minor format change taking effect: Fabrication Modules will be number-based instead of quantity-based. So "[2]" means "Fabrication Module #2", not "2x Fabrication Modules". Overall, it doesn't particularly matter as the number of fabrication modules available is the only relevant piece of information.

<-- Watcher AI - Processing Cycle 15 -->

>Query: Estimate round trip time to asteroids.
[NAVIGATION] Asteroids listed by Survey Sensors are within immediate surroundings of ship and travel time is not a factor in interactions with asteroids.

>Query: Viability of the Miner Droid to tow another Droid to the asteroids and using it to refine materials on site.
[ROBOTICS] Negative. Towing requires specialized equipment in addition to specific program.

>Query: Viability of upgrading a Repair Droid with an Advanced Refinery Suite.
[RESEARCH] Dedicated research task required.

>query, using the computers recently re-hooked up to the AI, search for detailed rosters of the colonists.  Search focus on engineers.
[WATCHER OVERSEER] No recently-connected computers with valid parameters detected. Datacore subsystem has been present since Watcher AI startup.
[DATACORE] ERROR: Could not find ship crew manifest in expected location.

>Fabrication Drone 01: Survey cause of Entity Sensors' power loss.
>Repair Drone 01: Survey damage to Life Support.
>Repair Drone 02: Survey damage to Thrusters.

[PHOENIX AUTOMATED MAINTENANCE] All power-deprived systems have been purposely shut down in order to preserve power. Systems may be reactivated given sufficient power production. Additional power production or lesser power expense required.

I do not see any reason to not do some minor repairs on the hyperdrive.

>Fabrication drone 01> Run System Repair on Hyperjump Drive

Looks like we can get at most 5 advanced metal from the nearby asteroids, we should at least grab that exotic ore before moving on.

We can't refine it yet, so save everything.

Why asteroid 1? It's just a lump of the metal also present on both the others, we should start by the 2 for its exotic ore (and hydrogen) then move on to 3 for silicon. Even that will take quite a while, I'm considering the need for a second mining droid.

I'm against making another drone until we know how much material is needed for the refinery suit.  If you want to sent it to a richer rock, go ahead, but metal in general was running low.  We have sufficient electrical power currently, so if the hydrogen is being used for reactor power, it likely will just be stored for now.  Also, I think it's pretty reasonable to assume we're gonna strip everything and use them or store them.  Something else is going to explode I bet.
