For anyone who thinks it might be weird for Ash to be Trainee level one and still have some fame, may I refer you to some evidence for it being allowable.

Exhibit A: Geralt of Rivia, who starts every Witcher game at level one with crappy equipment but is still regarded as a famous and talented Witcher.

Exhibit B: Cecil Harvey, who stars FF4 as the elite captain of the Redwings airships of Baron, but is still a level one dark knight with basic equipment.

Exhibit C: Samus Aran, the most famous bounty hunter in the galaxy in Metroid, yet still starts every game with pretty much no gear whatsoever despite earning a ton of it in the previous game.

Exhibit D: Most of the cast of Final Fantasy 6 who are in high positions but start at low levels (Celes and Cyan immediately spring to mind, as does Sabin, who is supposedly a talented martial artist but has no techniques and low levels when you first get him).

Exhibit E: Adol Christian(sp?) of the Ys series. Famed swordsman after the first game, but starts every subsequent game at level one with crappy equipment.

Exhibit F: Batman in the Arkham games. Talented crime fighter, yet has to find all of his gadgets and re-learn all of his techniques every game.

I'm sure there are more examples if I could be bothered to find them, but I can't, so... :P

Ash's level of fame is going to quickly become irrelevant, anyway. =P
I'm going to assume she hasn't travelled leagues upon leagues to get where she is now, so her fame might be "sort of well known" inside the specific county-sized area they're in. It honestly doesn't really matter, though, and the encounter I'm giving you is supposed to level you up posthaste. =s
(Though I'm worried about balance, *cough* nohealer *cough*.)

I suggest turning Sebastian into an NPC healer, though I get the feeling I might have said that before.

I should seriously playtest my testFEF because I've added 'minor' items that work as heals in that certain case >_> Tried to 'balance' it by making the items expensive or having low QL but eh.

This works though! :3 He can be a non-healer but have nice healing items which mechanically still act as healing!
