I'm sorry to hear that. You can always come back, if you'd like to.

That was very much IC. He is just as corrupt and cynical as soon you will be.

Or so you think.
(I will be very annoyed if I am railroaded along that, by the way.)

Yay for new turn!

Sorry if I missed anything - I think maybe some people were overwhelmed with the sheer number of items on the first turn agenda. Lots of stuff to consider obviously (running a country is hard!)
I tried my best to answer most items, but even I probably missed a few points :/

So looks like we might need be more forceful in nationalization and thro in some parish pumping to cheer up the masses.

More like we need to make like genghis khan. Completely brutalise the leaders of the landowner committees, and their families, and tell the rest of them that's what'll happen if they don't go into nationalisation.

I'm inclined to agree. We tried carrot, now it looks like we need a bit of stick to make them fall in line.

Aye, that'll work while we're at it me a Piratejoe can work on exterminating the hard liners under the guise of "Supporters of the fascists and enemies of the state." especially since they are probably more of a threat then anyone else.

Sounds like a good plan. Nothing like a good ol' purge to keep things stable.

But...But...Ration booklets...

Also, how much of Argyle's business network still exists?

You have your foreign contacts, but any rich people in the country aren't rich anymore or aren't people anymore. The assets you own might be nationalized soon, so you shouldn't count on that.
Argyle is literally doing the exact same job.

Sounds like a good plan. Nothing like a good ol' purge to keep things stable.
Arrrrrrgh.

Just want to say I appreciate the effort you put into this! Having a lot of fun thinking up strategies and policies :)

I'm going to read it over a few times and ponder on what would be a good course of action.
I like Bigger Fish's idea of one final attempt at a peaceful nationalization.

Getting USSR aid and volunteers seems like a good idea to me. I know they said no strings attached, but obviously there might be down the line.

EDIT: For anyone wondering Marshal Broz is the Prime Minister of Yugoslavia. Socialist country, but known to be someone who was against Soviet Hegemony. He was a leader in the non-aligned movement, so if we were looking to try and forge our own socialist path he would be an excellent ally, but it would mean turning away from the bigger gifts of Stalin. This is of course assuming that in this timeline events are similar to real life for Yugoslavia.

They're probably similar enough not to worry about. besides the USSR is a very far away country with a very weak navy compared to the west, we need to get them to believe that we're at least anti-warsaw pact, since at least then we'll be such an afterthought we might get away with liberating some of our neighbors.

NATO and Warsaw do not exist yet as far as I know.
Nato - 1949
Warsaw - 1955

Any hardline moves that we do end up taking will have to be under the guise of combating fascism. We just have to figure out what line we want to try and navigate. I doubt appeasing all powers will be possible truthfully. The USA already seems to have our number - it'll be interesting to see what sort of military aid our democratic brethren to the north receive.
