Woo, this thread has finally been renamed into something better
...Although the gist of the conversation only follows the President >_>
IT'S HAPPENING! HE'S OFFICIALLY CUTTING TIES TO THE US!
DOOOOOOM!
TIRUIN where art thou? What is happening?!
Busy weathering a Signal 3+(ish) storm :V
Basically--yeah, we got the news firsthand. However Duterte isn't really cutting ties (despite some reasonable and some not-really-that-reasonable-at-all statements about the USA relationship + China). Or at least that's what the majority of us here believe after noting the consistencies in his behavior is like :O (Although we seriously didn't like it when he said 'those filipinos in the USA are Americans) and all; mostly brushed it off as the usual politicking thing that I forgot the name of)
We have a Philippines thread. Damn I just noticed this. Been gone for too long.
Anyways to give some context, Philippines is a very pro-American nation. So anti-American protest is very odd. This protest is from the Communist political activists. Not to be confused with the underground Communist revolutionaries, its army and its united political front.
Before, this thread was named something much worse and more pointy than its title now.
And err...yeah. Full agreement to that statement there o_O If not "Pro", then at least "Neutral", since we do know y'all are open to talking about things (although the moment up there about 'reasonable' are when there were highlights on some stuff that did cause enmity to form between us...in the far past that were given reparations. Although I think Duterte was mentioning more to the companies using foreign labor and secondary to tertiary otherwise effects of current edicts and such? I'm totally unsure about that part because it's very off in a way regarding information)
Yeeeah, such crude tactics would never happen in the USA. Philippines are years behind with police methods.
Include the support, funding, additional facilities, and otherwise.
(We do not have very-good-at-all utilities to even demonstrate a crime scene; I do recall one event, though also represented multiple times before, when there were toy cars used to demonstrate incidents occurring. Though I'm not fully updated there--yeah, we're behind
a lot -_-)
Honestly not sure what this means in practical terms but he's fully committing to cutting both military and economic ties.
It was more foreign reliance, as far as I recall, rather than continued ties. :O (In which he wishes to repair ties with the Chinese, etc)
Edit: Waaaaait I got caught up! (Thanks Facebook and a ton of university friends? o_O)
...Ok, clarity. The first bit above there is more me remembering an interview(?) done days before now. What I'm now getting updated with is Duterte having that stance between China and the USA (plus supporters being loud on the webs).
And in other news, we're pretty much :I at what's happening, in which those web commentaries all over my feed have several (few) people comparing over the little things than the actual picture. >_<
