So instead I'll ask how Ka is going to explain losing not only the panther but possibly his ship to the superior(s) Mickaw implied he has.
Sorry for double post but this would've been brought up IC by Kes when prodded due to forgetfulness--but currently, I'm forgetful despite browsing through the background multiple times :P

...He has a superior? I thought it was the Fin, Wilcox, who was already somehow taken care of? :-X

Mickaw claimed that:

"He makes it different every time, but he always makes it messy. You know the pathogen, the sword, but you don't know the hand gripping it- and I think it'd be safer for all of us if we never knew the brain. The hand is Ka-Taeun. He came to Wilcox, day before yesterday. He knew everything about our job- about the Star, about Varkonius, about who we were."
He seemed to think Ka-T was the instrument of someone else's design, and was appropriately terrified of said theoretical entity.

Oh my goodness, that means that if we blow up the ship or whatever, we'll irritate the brain more.

GUYS, WHEN YOU DO START DOING THAT--PLEASE MESSAGE KESARI, ALL THIS MAKES HER ALL THE MORE INTERESTED.

Even if we're stirring up a hornet's nest. At least we can learn more, especially if I direct all the C&C power into sucking out info onto Ka-T's ship (hopefully with a firewall to stop counter-...whichever)

NOW I can get why he's so D:

Hmmm. Either he has remote control over his ship, or he's actually present and we're very fucked. I'm going to hope for the former and pray that whatever gods of the void abandoned Boris when he lost his kingdom have returned to smile upon him now.

Stealing, or sabotage? I rather like the thought of subtly sabotaging the ship so it blows up when he tries to bore out or something. Stealing is also good, but he's (and the whole galaxy) gotta know we did it. Where's Khate and her cameras when we need 'em?

Stopping the whole 'weapon lock and possible imminent death for everybody' situation probably comes first - not that I know about that bit IC. Should probably let Kesari know we are onboard and not to be blown up, err.

Those override codes wouldn't happen to open the rest of the doors/security here, hm?

Also quite likely he has goons still aboard, and delivered a very angry communication instructing them to murder the shit out of us.

'Fraid not. Ports get to control the airlock that the ship uses to dock on nearly all occasions, but they don't get more control than that.

This just now crossed my mind while rereading, yes. Goons are alright. Goons can be handled. Though I think a stealthy approach might be better here. Maybe sabotaging their engines/reactor/other dangly bits, then detaching them from the freighter and getting it to the Reunion?

How big is the ship, do we know? I'm just wondering if he's more likely to have a dozen or two hundred minions aboard.

Could probably fit a crew of 25 comfortably.

Ah, so there's definitely 50 guys in there packed like sardines in a can. Gotcha. If only I had my explosives.

This is some prologue. @_@
And I love it.

...Also which is Ka-T's ship? The cloaked one that blew up our system's security vessel? Sorry, bad attention span here x~x
Because if that's happening, they've got dudes on it.

Dudes that probably are going to fish out their leader...unless we really do something good and hinder it well.

Edit: Oh goodness now we've a kill-team of two awesome folks.
Boris in his rescrubbed and not-that-polished mining suit, and Aubrey. Wishing that very well there!
And people should totally message Kesari before she blows up those ships with all the missiles.
I mean surely it's not a stoopid bioweapon ship, because that'd be fairly surprising.
And great for plot! But not for us being stumped. :P Time to RP this out.

...We lack personnel teleporters, right? :-\

I have a tendency to do that.

That's the one. It has uncloaked, did that a while back, iirc.

Right, none of you are bore jumpers. There are no Star Trek style teleporters.

CRAP
I believe he rolled multiple ones ._.;
BUT that never meant we're not lost. It just feels like that because we're panicky thanks to Ka-T's REPUTATION OF BEING RAINBOW TAFFY :I

We can totally handle this. Y'all just sabotage the ship, and/or find that 'emergency fire exit' plan. You're in the freighter part--the tiny ship is supposedly a troop transport while the freighter is the superbly defensive-to-whatever tracking is presented, to take care of the cargo. Just...do some explodium :3

That and I can transmit some data of what the Reunion gleaned of the ships to you! You still have the explodium with you right?
And surely freighters have supply pods/escape pods :D Blow up his fancy stuff!

It doesn't end in "And then the protagonists died." right? :P

Aubrey never had any explodey anything that I remember. Working out her inventory was a long long time ago...

Also, perhaps this is the type of prologue where the next chapter starts "a lot of good people died to get this information..." or however it goes. We all die, and you get your waitlister wish come true, x6 ;)

Reminds me of some rebels who carried some info and then something something Star Wars. :3
Or it's just something I saw on imgur which was pretty awesome.

But yes, waitlister reinforcements \o/ That'd be brilliant. But they were contracted by somebody else! :O
Also, Aubrey is a tech master. She can use her environment to be her explodey things!
Also they probably have weapons on them so yeah. I bet you weren't detected unless they have the ol' cameras on the halls.
