Name: Khate Rhigg
Nickname: Gunpuppy
Gender: Female
Race: Neo-Dog
Age: 19
Profession: Defender/Bounty Hunter/Mech Pilot/Iron Weaver
Description: This large, light beige, shaggy Neo-Dog just exudes cheerfulness and enthusiasm, even when doing questionable or aggressive things or dealing with questionable or aggressive people. This often makes her come off as ditzy or oblivious, and while (especially by non-Cane standards) that may sometimes be true, much of it is simply her impenetrably upbeat personality. Her eyes are an emerald green, and she often favors Dead Neo Running or Pretty Soldier Sakkakl apparel, both in person and on her heavily armed, heavily armored walker.
Background: Like most Canes, Kahlal was born into a clan and immediately belonged. Unlike most Canes, Kahlal's particular clan was heavily involved in the Dead Neo Running Deepshow, a game show where contestants generally had to run lethal hazard courses, puzzles, and each other for the ultimate prize of not dying (and also fabulous prizes). This meant that from a young age, the enthusiastic Khate was trained to catch escapees (entertainingly or otherwise), break up riots (moral, blood-frenzied, or otherwise), and hunt down promising specimens (legally, illegally, or otherwise). She soon became one of NeoRun's most promising walker-equipped bruisers, and was often featured with her squadmates in panning shots designed to highlight the show's brutality or oppressive nature.
However, Khate was far too talented to remain a security drone and showpiece for long, and she soon found her duties shifting towards capture and escort missions. If anything, she was even better suited to offworld work than she had been to local jobs, which in turn began to result in Ideas.
Not hers, obviously.
The show's board of directors, while valuing the Cane Clan portions of their cartel, were generally of the opinion that the majority of mundane security's function was to provide ambiance by looking good. They were similarly of the opinion that offworld missions, while important, were generally most valuable as sensationalist PR and advertising stunts. Put bluntly, they were generally of the opinion that they had too many and too qualified Neo-Dog bruisers for what their usual operations required.
Thus was the Freelance Outrunner Unit established- which is to say, NeoRun tossed several of its best Capture and Escort members at the stars with cameras, gimmicky merchandise, and vague orders to do well, make money, improve their skills, get marketable footage, spread the good word, and generally serve cartel and clan in a decidedly independent manner from either.
Different Canes responded differently to this development, of course, but Khate's boundless enthusiasm, loyalty, and knack for Mercylike operations improved even further. She quickly earned the nickname Gunpuppy Khate for her boundless enthusiasm (both for work and promoting a murder game show) and disturbing resilience, and not long after "send in the Gunpuppy" became a standard solution to ridiculously dangerous situations nobody else wanted or was equipped to do.
Gunpuppy's most immediately noticeable feature is the obscenely well-armored war walker she usually enters combat in. A heavily modified version of the standard NeroRun security walkers, its outward appearance is intended to convey an aura of oppressive tyranny, of looming death and the iron grip of fate. It is also, somewhat ironically, equipped almost entirely with nonlethal armaments, being a capture and suppression device rather than an instrument of (direct) death itself. Khate's particular model is also ridiculously armored and shielded, to better allow her to relentlessly pursue targets and protect her new, often temporary packmates as they do the same.
Khate herself is also equipped and trained as an Iron Weaver, though she primarily uses it to craft specialized solutions for taking down difficult prey and repairing inevitable damage to her suit. Her preferred method of operation is the relentless, plodding inevitability of fate itself, though she's willing to speed things up a bit when her allies are in a hurry and don't care about her "damned footage of letting some con shoot you just to prove it's not working." She nonetheless excels at extended or sporadic actions, being well accustomed to having to catch up to targets more than once to finally take them down. She's stereotypically protective of allies when she has them, and is more than willing to reduce her prized walker (with her in it) to a smoldering wreck to keep them from harm.
Khate is also a faithful preacher of the wonders of her show, and often has branded accessories to hand out for free to interested parties. Though she herself watches it fairly routinely out of duty, her real obsession is a scatterbrained Neo-Fin show called Pretty Soldier Sakkakl, and when she's not wearing skull pins or figures-into-sawblades bandanas tends towards pretty ribbons and jewelry. Occasionally these end up on her imperial deathwalker as well, to... interesting effect.
