Probably the second, as she was sort of a PR manager in her past life. Of course, 'PR' in neo-cat society is a life-or-death matter.

Actually, a different helpful tip would be this - is the nickname something other people call you, or something you try and make other people call you? If the former, it's probably some kind of in-joke, or a simple and unflattering name. And if the latter, it's something (usually flattering, awkward and terribly contrived) that nobody would actually want to call you to begin with.

So yeah. My Neo-dog is limited in physical manipulation and relies heavily on tech. I would expound more on vocalization but by that point I already feel it's an augmentation :<
How do neo-species speak anyway?

Okay, as previously stated, and in the spoiler on the first page for 'Galactic Common', the reason I keep mentioning palette adaptations is that the uplift species are all capable of speech in a common language. It isn't english, or anything remotely close to it, but there is a standardized language for galactic trade utilizing sounds common to all five races. Naturally, every empire has their own language or set of languages, and those languages further depend upon the individual composition of that empire. A lost colony whose original population was entirely Fin and Human will have developed a very different system of expression and meaning than a Cane and Crow colony, and certainly different from a fully integrated society.

As far as ballistics go, if it can be grasped by the suit arms, it's totally usable. Canes use rifles/pistols/etc just fine, in point of fact, due to the natural platform stability of being a quadruped, they can use much bigger guns and wear thicker armor than humans can.

I don't know what the other idea is, so I can't tell you. [...]
Why I mentioned my character in the background of Physics is utilization of sonar amplification/pressure in their work--either to disrupt or cause 'ventriloquism' at a far distance (ie 100m or so) and aid to 'silence' her movements, with the initial idea being a kind of long-range communication without reliance on radio waves (as it also amplifies her voice or bark doubling as a weapon). Probably dropping in SASER technology and the like. Or utilizing phonons in this advanced age of technology for a myriad number of utilitarian purposes. :x I imagined her originally utilizing a weapon until that large note of your post back there, however ballistics and such are difficult to imagine without opposable thumbs, however seemingly possible. So the physics of sound waves from a device that picks up the vibrations of her vocal chords resulting in sound amplification, modification, and even utilization of such to translation into mechanized languages to coordinate with receiving machines seemed like a good idea, even in the context of all those other sentences written up there. But I've no idea if I should insert that in due to describing a character limits...which are unknown to me.

As far as weapons go, weirding modules sonic weapons are perfectly viable. Typically Fins invent and use the best ones, but that's a consequence of environment and natural biology. Active sound manipulation could be very useful for a skilled infiltrator.

@Draignean:Are nicknames necessary?

Not a bit. An aesthete might even be horrified that you'd shorten her glorious name to something 'tractable'. How dreadfully uncivilized.

Nicknames here is sort of conflated with callsigns, if that helps.

This. Very much. In the example, Captain Raker's nickname is an in-joke, Khannet's is a descriptor that she wants others to use, Kierin's is her old callsign, and Travian's is an unflattering joke as to his shyness and softness.

O...K! I'll finalize it then with possible additions just in case ._.
Spoiler: Final Sheet. (click to show/hide)
Edit: I think I added two possible weapons in. My rifle, and that sound/sound-laser device/amplifier.

Anyway, before I work on my character sheet, I would like to clear the concept with you.

My idea is a neo-ape who turned himself into a living weapon (via cybernetics) out of an uncontrolled desire for power. With his new form and way too much free time, he went on frequent murderous rampages just to show off. Eventually after many years though, the sheer magnitude of his horrible actions finally hit him. He didn't want to be a killer anymore, he no longer wanted to be force of destruction. He wanted to save lives, he wanted to be a force of creation.

Unfortunately, every single part of his body had been re-purposed for murder and he couldn't find the scientist who made him like this in the first place. Eventually, he became a mercy, partly for the money, partly because he was a wanted outlaw who's poster would say "Wanted DEAD! For the love of God don't bring him back alive!", but mainly because he hopes he can sometimes occasionally do good and maybe even regain a human body.

If you're afraid of him being overpowered, that's what the varying tech levels of the planets are for. A supersoldier in one planet might just be a footsoldier in another.

Obviously what I've written is very rough but the character is far more developed than what I've written here (such as how did he get those cybernetics?). I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to create an entirely different character after I wrote the sheet.

The overall concept seems fine, and you're quite right. The most advanced piece of military technology from Earth would pale before a common prime assault mech, and would be about as advanced as a pointy stick compared to whatever an Apex civilization decided would make decent infantry. Even a standard suit of prime-tech power armor could wreak incalculable destruction in a civilian center, so the idea is not that far fetched.

One of the interesting problems that some real (Earth, here, now) literature has talked about is the expanding grasp of a single man in terms of power. In paleolithic times, a madman might kill a few. In the modern age, just a man with a gun can kill or injure dozens in a single event, and the hypothetical scenario of a suitcase bomb in the right place is even more devastating. In the far flung future, that divide will be more pronounced, which (I imagine) is precisely what your charater will embody.

I'd like to see Cinder's character sheet. I have 9 sheets, and I think I know the crew I want to select (which requires some bitterly hard calls), but Cin seems mostly done with their concept and I don't want to kill someone with the edge of a deadline. Sunday I'll propose the crew, and if the players are amicable to all being on the same boat... Well, then they get the boat and a job.

Huh. Where I am it is already the middle of Sunday.

Better get that sheet done, then.

EDIT: Basically finished, I'll look at revising it later if I get the time.

EDIT 2: I think I wrote too much ::)

Ugh, I don't like how the backstory and character clash. Will probably change something. Major character rework inbound, and not many people have even read the backstory yet.

Ooh. I see. Damn. Why are you people so awesome. It makes my life difficult. I have but one game to run and I can't pick all of you. :(

Anyway, Sunday is in half an hour. Depending on the state of things when I wake up, I may or may not wait for stragglers. The number of people in the crew is slightly flexible, so if I see someone that just have to have before the game begins I can still do some last second squeezing, but expect the first drafting to occur in 6-10 hours more or less.

Hopefully we have a universal communicator? :P I would find it silly fun to be able to manipulate that with in-game rolls with any devices I have, or see others do that, so they can have fun communicating with others and stuff.
