My Character is equally or even more utility based, and I have had no trouble.

And honestly, There is no real problem here, considering nobody has been able to make their abilities shine yet, the game is too young, and the GM hasn't even dealt out the first REAL encounter.

Your sort of utility is different, Shade. Porkins doesn't have to design every situation around it. It's true that the game is young, though.

I kind of get the feeling we shouldn't have killed that drunk so quickly, though. I wonder if he was expected to escape after stealing Beau's stuff.

I suppose I misspoke, what I meant was that I haven't been impaired by my utility being denied, which has happened a few times.

As for the Drunk, It will be more fun this way, ;P

Yeah, but Pisci's utility can't be denied or she loses basic function, you know? That's why I said that being blind actually made her stronger due to meta reasons. Imagine if Beau would instantly die if he lost his cane. Porkins could never take the cane off him, and would have to redesign anything that might do that (or give him opportunities to keep it, etc.) That sort of principle. It is technically a weakness, but in practice it just means that he always has access to his weapon.

Hopefully.

Which neccecitates a Fallback rather than a Redesign, Such as the Electricity Sight when the normal sight is blocked, or even something like Echolocation as a backup.

Yet you end up with a situation where the fallback ends up being used 90% of the time anyway because the main ability has too many situations where it trivializes mysteries, puzzles, or secrets, so it may as well be a redesign anyway. As a GM I'd be constantly thinking "What if I have a little spy bug follow the party, no it'll get detected. What if I put a pitfall trap in the middle of the room? No it'll get detected. What if I set the walls to crush in? No it'll get detected."

Omnivision is powerful, not combat-wise, but its existence necessitates the design of the entire campaign to revolve around it or its repeated deactivation. One is a pain for the Gm and one is annoying for the player.

If that is irritating for the player, then it is a problem with standards of play.  I personally would not mind an ability with high power and low usability.

I understand that others might feel differently though, And I'll respect it.

Yeah, I'd be mostly fine with it too, but it's best just to assume the worst-case scenario so you can plan for it better, you know?

The spy bug example would probably work actually. An insect wouldn't be suspicious in and of itself; especially if there are a lot of insects in an area.

But the original ability was omni-awareness. She'd notice the machinery inside its body and that it was different to the other insects.

Is this game still alive? I have been watching it waiting for something to see if something actually will happen.
