An interesting tale.
« on: February 08, 2008, 11:38:00 am »

I had a count consort give birth to a baby, shortly after something out of my control made her go miserable and she quickly descended into madness, dropping her baby. It wandered around for a while, hungry/thirsty and I noticed eventually that the dwarves fed/watered it.

Wanting this one to live, I quickly baby-proofed the place ( Covered all open water sources, made sure there were no accessable large falls ) and went about my business, checking in on the little fella every now and then. After a while I noticed he successfully grew into a child! Despite the count wanting nothing to do with him. I can only wonder how messed up this kid will be, having seen his mother starve to death and then wandering around aimlessly for near a year with no parental contact.

I see that dwarf going berserk one day and killing as many as he can before a military dwarf gets his paws on him.

I say you throw it in a magma pit asap.

I recommend naming him after a famous school-shooter of your choice.

Better yet, sell him to goblins so he could grow strong and tough, amass an army, lay siege on your fortress and finally get his rightful title. Probably killing his dad off in the process.

Yeah, I floored over most of the spike pits/endlessly huge traps/boiling vats of magma and endless water halls/10 story drop into a dragon filled pit. I lost half my military fighting the goblins off.

But the baby survived, Isn't he cute?

Alternatively you could build a one level tower around the magma, make a trap door directly over the magma, recruit a dwarf into teh military, set him into the trap door, and PULL THE LEVER!

I had a baby whose mother got killed by a goblin, the baby crawled around for years being fed and watered. I thought eventually it'd grow up and become a productive member of the fortress, but then it got outside and fell ito a pond and drowned  :(
