You can already explore tombs and get mummies to curse you and attack you with undead minions.

There are also undiscovered tablets hidden in the world with the secrets of life and death. It's how necromancers get started in worldgen.

"Before the existence of mortals" pretty much is the definition of "so ancient that nobody knows about it."

Nope nope. What I want is to be the leader of a musical troupe with a set of bodyguards. To create a small tavern/inn settlement where the Troupe can stay and do their work, while I lead the bodyguards to raid a tower and steal the slab. Then I want to write the words of that slab into the lyrics of a song and teach it to my band just to see if someone listening to the song would learn the secrets of life and death and become a necromancer.

Besides necromancy. I mean real world bending powers, almost godlike in nature.

Humans can do that in worldgen, turning forests to plains. Not sure if they can keep doing it after worldgen has finished, though.

Though in general, screwing with reality is kinda too much of a blunt force instrument. Hitting randomize gets old after a few times and in general you'd want something specific. Spoilers can be treated as challenge to overcome because it is hard, not because it is random.

I think I know what I want out of this. Rare "semi-apocalyptic" magic such as freezing an entire region or the opposite, burning an entire region with dragonfire. Oh, but how will that be balanced? Simple. Make the cooldown period very long.

You'll be able to skip time later. The only way to balance something like that is it kills you.

Meh, migrants are expendable.

The bigger problem I have with "superweapons" is that it results in lopsided world gen populations. Goblins get two - demon master and no need to eat or drink, and you basically have to give humans and elves something like 50 squares for each 7 you give to them, even with no megabeasts.

Magam piston "eruption" switches have been in the game forever. Activate in adv mode, and run!

Yeah, but I don't tend to play Fortress Mode much.

Not in fortress mode. Nothing really counts off-map in that mode yet. In adventure mode? I'm not sure.

Something to Science, maybe?

I can imagine if you had enough pressure and an aquifer, and then had the adventure trigger it, I think it would flood the world very slowly, but then again, I don't know. Never tried such a crazy idea.
