Sera smirked and nudged him again.

"Come oooon. It'll be good for you! An adventure, get you to see the world beyond your little city where you hardly ever leave the barracks! It'll be great! And besides, you need to 'protect' me, so you're stuck whether you like it or not so may as well try and enjoy it!"

Marcianus accepted the nudge with the resignation of the truly lazy. "I enjoy a hard drink and a warm bed, neither of which I'm likely to see much of on this adventure of yours. Look, you know I'm not going to duck out on you, so can I at least sulk in peace? Asking me to be cheerful about the state of affairs is like asking a pig to fly..." Marcianus sighed. She was probably right. In a very, very broad sense. At least his parents were to be taken care of! If he made it home alive, he could retire! "Bit of an 'if' there, though." Marcianus mumbled aloud, his internal monologue leaking.

"Seems like it is about time you take the correct path, I doubt it is going to be easy to get you that far, but I am sure Khordad will be pleased once you accept AND reach your correct fate."

Ghamina crossed her arms at Taukek's question.
"I'm as far from a princess as one can get."

Ghamina gave a soft, musical giggle.
"Why? Do you feel cheered?"

"He's not cheered by anything unless it's a nice long nap. He's not exactly the most adventurous type, but at least he can hold his own in a fight."

[GiglameshDespair]

"Oh? Well, I suppose there are worse vices than sleep, but this may not be the best employment for the unadventurous." Her narrow eye flickered between the two of them. "You two seem close. Are you lovers?"
She continued glancing between them, waiting for their reaction.

Sera chuckled.

"He's just stuck with me. My father was worried I wouldn't be able to take care of myself, so he sent along a babysitter. Despite the fact that I'm pretty sure I could kick his butt if I needed to, but if it makes Father Dearest happy."

I mean, he is cute and all. Such a story that would be too. The young girl falls for her bodyguard...~ Ah well, he's a friend regardless.

Marc just geumbled to himself a little more.

[GiglameshDespair]

"I see. Your father must be wealthy, to hire a bodyguard of such undoubted valour for you full time."

[Swordstar]

"Mostly I think he just bullied him into it..."

[GiglameshDespair]

"So are you skilled with that-" She glanced at the armoured woman's weapon. "-axe, then? A warrior, by trade?"

[Swordstar]

"Yeah, been trained with the axe since I was young."

She twirled it in her hand before slipping it onto her belt.

"I was trained in other weapons as well, but axe always felt just right, you know? Easier to use for me plus I can hit people with it harder than I could with a sword or a bow."

[SOLDIER First]

"I only have this damned staff. What I'd give for a proper weapon..."

Diane shook the thing irritably, like there was a bug on the end.
