Alone Amongst the Stars

OOC-Thread

When humanity first ascended to the Stars they were alone. There were some that had come before them but those had died aeons ago. And then there were those yet following, those not yet far enough advanced to sail the stars or even climb out of their trees to discover fire.

Humanity was the Lone Master of Space. And is, to this day. It is the 300th year since Council-Station had been founded. Initially designed to function like the UN it failed just like its ill fated predecessor.

Nonetheless the Council-Station was an important Trade Hub and Accorded Neutral Ground recognized by all Human Nations.Here warring nations met to forge peace. Here Trade Deals that would decide over Riches unfathomable were signed. Here was the New Center of Humanity.

Today the Six largest Human Nations would meet.

The Seren Republic of Neo-Venice. It's mighty fleet protecting its even larger Treasure and Trade fleets.

The Confederate Expanse. The equivalent to a threshold country of old earth. Ruled by an ironfisted Dictator. Technologically backwards but nonetheless fearsome.

Arkagonia. Humanities Melting Pot, where all nationalities, cultures, creeds, races and even species were welcome.

The mighty Alur Dominion. The Mightiest Nation known to Man. Respected by Many. Feared by More.

The Council-Station Exploration Commission. A Committee, turned Science Directorate turned into a Moloch of Science, Wealth and Power.

The Jordian Theocracy. Wealth, Technology and Religious Fanatism all rolled into one dangerous combination.

These six Nation would meet to decide matters that would change the fate of an entire species.

Planet Color represents a Core World of that Nation
Planets of other Colors but with a Cross of that Nations Color through it (example yellow planet with red cross) mean that world is occupied by that nation but still holds a majority of former inhabitants (aka that yellow planet with the Red Cross is a former Neo-Venice World which is now held by the Alur Dominion. The populace however is still Venetian.)
White Worlds are ssettled by Alien Species.

If you have not a chosen ambassador yet hold off for the moment until we have that sorted all questions and so forth go either into OOC or via PM, this is purely an RP Thread, so if possible avoid the PTW-Posts. If you are not one of the players you can still post in here as a random minor character. Security Guards, Cooks, Mercenaries, Traders, Ambassadors of Minor Worlds etc. that is of course if you are in the mood. Fluff is always welcome. Remember Aliens are not in Space yet so no Xenos in here ))

The representative of the Most Serene Republic of Neo Venice joins the Arkagonian representative in the warm greeting. May these discussions be fruitful and profitable for all, and and may there be peace* and good will among all nations.








*The Most Serene Republic of Neo Venice considers peace as being generally most conductive to the increase of the consumers' base and less disruptive to stable trade, therefore generally superior to a state of war. However, since those who want peace must be prepared for war, Neo Venice also sells merchandise fit for military use. Should war actually break out, you may want to consider renting** one or more squadrons of our mighty fleets for that extra edge that tip space engagements.

**All responsibility for the actions of rented fleets fall upon the client and do not configure a hostile act by the Most Serene Republic; rented fleets are permitted to reveal the contract's value plus financial punitive clauses but may not be bribed away for less than twice of those amounts and the client is permitted to increase the rental fee to retain the fleet's service; bidding contests have a minimum cap of 10% of the contract's value; rented fleets will only operate in conjunction with a client's fleet of similar size or larger;  engaging rented fleets with simulated weaponry will be reciprocated and favourably seen by the Neo Venetian trade council; results in battles with simulated weaponry will be judged by Neo Venetian umpires and  any ship declared "severely damaged" or "destroyed" must withdraw or be fired upon; battle between Neo Venetian fleets rented to opposing parties will preferentially engage each other, use simulated weaponry, and withdraw when declared "severely damaged" or "destroyed" at which point they revert to the Republic's direct control and may not be attacked. The Confederate Expanse is pleased to make the acquaintance of the gathered nations and looks forward to stronger relations. I would of course do my best to meet with anyone who should request, however, due to the compact efficiency of confederate scheduling I have little time myself and would encourage you to contact the main diplomatic wing on the Confederate Homeworld via Private Matter transfer for a more expedient response.

A charismatic man with a shaven head and bright blue eyes approaches the podium. He wears a communicator on his ear, one with a rather large antenna, as if meant to pick up a certain signal at all costs. He represents the interests of Unity, a new regime, technically speaking, following the aftermath of a disastrous civil war. The new government seems to be looking forward to a future of peace and prosperity, but the ambassador is quick to make clear their demands.

"Our people are the descendants of a single expedition to Omega Orionis IV. An expedition that first colonized, among other worlds, the planets of Roanoke, California, and Dorado. Planets which have been placed under foreign rule against the will of the governed.

All that we ask for, is that those planets descended from Omega Orionis' posterity be granted the right to vote that they inherited from their ancestors. There shall be a referendum on the subject of their independence, and the government of Unity shall support them, whatever their decision be. "

General (or he supposed it would be more suitable to use the title Ambassador) Temple observed the room with some disinterest, his thoughts elsewhere. Despite his old age he still struck an imposing figure in his outfit, a greatly decorated military uniform.

300 years this station, and what it represents, has stood, 85 of his own, already? That made him feel quite old, so long he has served, so many battles, large and small, so much gained, and lost, in the name of our glorious nation. He had been a good solider, and an even better leader, with a keen military mind, even by Dominion standards he was exceptional. He supposes that is why he is here, there remained many more battles to fight before his service was over.

Turning his focus on the others, he thought of the role those present might play in his remaining years. Others of his kind may dismiss the threats these people pose to the Alur Dominion, or the boons cooperation with them provides, but anyone in his position would have learned otherwise long ago.

Wishing to see the Confederate Expanse's response to Unity's requests, he remains silent. This potential conflict was of more interest to him than shallow promises of peace easily made.

*The Confederate envoy continues to pour over the documents in front of him for such a time that the silence is beginning to become uncomfortable. The room waits for his response. Just as the council moderator is stepping up to repeat the issue he shuffles a stack of papers aside and looks up to make his statement.*

Whatever traditions your culture may have I do hope you understand that these worlds are not under your control, and are not free to act with cultural impunity. These are Confederate worlds, under Confederate control, and our nation has not operated under the outdated confines of democracy since the election of our leader many years ago. These worlds represent a significant investment of resources and will be defended as any other national asset would be.

That being said, we are not entirely opposed to the transition of assets should sufficient remuneration be offered in return. The actual negotiations however, should take place somewhere a bit more private.

*He spares a quick glance at the Dominion and Venetian representatives.

I'm sure our counterparts would be very... understanding in this regard.

On another note, I would like to remind everyone that the confederate expanse has been very busy of late and we have all been bogged down in Internal Reformation Legislation. Notifying the core worlds via Private Matter transfer is the best way to ensure that your message does not slip through the cracks, as that, I'm sure we can all agree, would be a tragedy.

CSEC representative Lucas Venkman leans forward.  He is dressed in a crisp, simple grey suit and sports bright blue hair styled slightly long so it touches the neck, just hiding a band of surgically implanted chrome running from ear to ear.  He sits in the traditional spot for the exploration committee, a place returning members would recognize as not being occupied by a CSEC member in a long time.

While the right to self determination is an important ideal, history has for too long proved that democratic processes can be detrimental to human populations.  A look into the well-being of the populations under Confederate... current rulership... would be an appropriate venue for this council, but a general election is out of the question so long as the people are taken care of and basic human rights secured.  Until such time that proof of abusive practices are presented, the Exploration Committee must maintain a position of neutrality, at least. 

CSEC has three primary goals with attending this meeting.  The first is to renew our commitment to the Council Station format as a means to resolve disputes.  Advanced technology means that terrifying weapons can be deployed against military and civilian populations, amplifying the dangers that warfare represents both to civility and to humanity as a species.  We have found artifacts from alien civilizations across known space, and yet none more advanced then humanity has been found alive.  There is informed speculation that some thing or event, unknown at this time, has destroyed or wiped out those who came before and that humanity must be at united, or at least at a place where dialoged can be engaged in, in case this comes for us.

As such the remaining Council ships under our command will commit to keeping free and open access to this station to all nation-states which desire such dialog.  I would hope that the other representatives would commit to this diplomatic necessity as well.

The second is that the markets of Rust and Deep Blue will soon be open to interstellar trade thanks to reforms to the current demand economy.  Anyone who wishes to access the wide range of advanced consumer goods on offer will be welcome.

The third is that CSEC has finished dealing with internal issues of security and economic financing and is now ready to resume it;s goal of exploration of new worlds and alien technology.  As such I am asking for access to pass through the borders of all nations who wish to assist.  It is the goal and purpose of CSEC to uncover the true origin of these artifacts and to expand the scope of human habitation.

"Be reminded, that we seek what is best for our people, those of whom in question happen to be Confederate subjects by extension. We would be amenable to an agreement of free trade with our former worlds, benefiting both our nations economically, provided that our people are guaranteed certain rights basic to all human beings."

He then nods toward the CSEC. "We look forward to an era of mutual prosperity and would be glad to cooperate on both the financial and economic fronts. For the sake of both parties involved, however, we humbly suggest that all foreign researchers in Unity space be accompanied by scientists from our research department. A cooperative effort will be mutually beneficial and ensure that these ancient weapons won't be used for political leverage at the expense of human dignity."

Of course, it is our mission after all to share our findings with the Council and by extension those who participate in and recognize it's legitimacy.

Arkagonia would be honored to welcome CSEC scientist into our borders with the goal of finding more of these "Precursor" sites. We would also offer our scientists to assist with your teams elsewhere as well, as we have some experience with such affairs.


On a different note, I would like to announce that the construction of a luxury resorting one of our planets! It will be open to all who wish to come*. At this time however, I am not at liberty to disclose which planet or when it will be open for visitors, but you will be the first to know. 


* The resort will be open to all nations, even those at war with each other (for instance, if Neo-Venice was at war with Unity, both would still be allowed to send their tourists there**) However, violence between two factions WILL NOT be tolerated in our space, and will result in both parties being escorted back to their respective nations.
** This supposed war between Neo-Venice and Unity was merely an example and Arkagonia does not wish to imply that there is animosity between those two states.

Safari, a colonized Earth-like planet, with native life.

Safari is very similar to what is known of Old Earth, with varied biomes and a rich biodiversity; so similar, in fact, that it made Earth-themed tourism its main economic activity.
Be it actual safaris on a savannah biome or jumping into ice-covered island volcanos and parachuting back up on thermals, diving in massive coral reefs with robotic sharks and real copies of wooden ships or being Viking raiders for a day (it involves singing, drinking mead, some rowing, fake blood-squirting axes and lots of sex workers), down to authentic-take-no-imitations Caribbean tourist trap theme parks, there's something for everyone's dream vacation.
While there is plentiful Safari-based dreamware, it's never as good as the complete experience but just either as setting for a plot or some other form of a teaser to the real thing; you must come and live your dreams!

I hate to keep repeating this, but if it keeps getting ignored I'm going to keep posting it. IF YOU MENTION ME IN A POST, SEND ME A PM!! It dosent have to be the post, it dosent have to be anything. It's just so that I get a notification and I know to check the thread. I was able to keep up for the weekend (and today, cause i got lucky) but I won't be able to check the forums regularly during the week. I dont have wifi at my apartment so to check the thread I have to go somewhere with free wifi, and that takes time! A PM sends me an e-mail which pops up as a notification on my phone even without wifi (cause data) but I can not load the forums over data. Please!
