Logistics Department - Week 6
« on: September 21, 2016, 11:30:06 pm »

You work in the logistics department of the great and expansive United Alliance.
They're currently fighting a stalemate and resources are getting really low. After your recent appointment as a Head Quartermaster at the logistics department of the military, you plan on changing this.

You will be given a series of campaigns and missions planned by the military, and a total allotment of supplies. It is your job to distribute those supplies.
Good luck. Your job starts today.

Week 1
Your resource allotment for this week:
  • 20u Rations (Rations. To eat.)
  • 20u Fuel (Fuel used to power Alliance ships, aircraft, and ground vehicles.)
  • 20u Ammunition (Energy/Heat ammunition used for both personnel and ship combat.)
Request 1 - Trench Charge
As part of their new campaign, the 2nd Expeditionary Fleet is planning on making a single definite push through enemy lines and capturing an important tactical point. The fleet itself is large, and the Admiral states that most of the battle is going to be fought in space with a final ground charge after heavy orbital bombardment, if the first stage of fleet combat goes well.

Request 2 - Fortification of Ilkuyon's Landing
An enemy force is breaking through the defensive line in the area surrounding the colony of Ilkuyon's Landing. The garrison commander is requesting supplies to allow them to stay in the battle until reinforcements can be diverted to the area.

Request 3 - The Resistance
An official from Intelligence says that they can get a large amount of supplies through to the resistance on an occupied city planet right behind enemy lines. They happen to need supplies to do this, though.

I think most fuel should go to 1, along with like 3/8ths ammo

4/8ths ammo to 2, 1/8th ammo to 3

3 gets most rations?

Week 1 - Resource Allotments
Request 1
  • 7.5u Ammunitions
  • 10u Fuel
  • 5u Rations
Request 2
  • 10u Ammunitions
  • 5u Fuel
  • 5u Rations
Request 3
  • 10u Ammunitions
  • 5u Fuel
  • 10u Rations
Week 1 - Results
Request 1 Results
The fleet was able to break through the defensive line initially, but due to their lack of proper amounts of ammunition, was unable to keep a sustained offensive to land enough ground forces. Luckily, the fleet was able to retreat relatively unharmed.
Overall, the offensive was deemed failed and the fleet will be out of the game for a while as they reevaluate their tactics and undergo repairs. Fleet Command tells you that they expect to have troubles in this front for the near future.
Request 1: Minor Failure.

Request 2 Results
Celebrations swept across the planet as the citizens of Ilkuyon's Landing rejoice over their victory. Thanks to the fairly large amount of ammunition sent over, the defenses were able to push off and heavily damage their attackers.
Fleet Command has informed you of plans to use this as an opportunity to strike through the weakened enemy lines in the area.
Request 2: Major Success.

Request 3 results
The resistance in the occupied city, thanks to the received rations, will be able to survive for quite a while longer. While they definitely could have done better with more ammunition, they were able to use their new resources to spread the resistance. Intelligence has explained that this will ease some of the strain on the agency as less manpower will have to be dedicated towards this particular planet.
Request 3: Minor Success.

Week 2
The resources being used to replenish and repair the 2nd Expeditionary Fleet have put a strain on Fuel and Components. Therefore, your attention will be diverted to those this week.
  • 10u Components(Supplies used to repair ships both in drydock and in combat situations.)
  • 10u Fuel (Fuel used to power Alliance ships, aircraft, and ground vehicles.)
  • 20u Ammunition (Energy/Heat ammunition used for both personnel and ship combat.)
Entrenched Front - Fleet Repair
The 2nd Expeditionary Fleet has not had a good time at the dry dock thanks to local supply shortages, and have asked for supplies from outside the shipyards' suppliers to be diverted for repair and refilling their ships ammunition and fuel stores to be able to quickly get back into action.

Core Front- Opportunistic Strike
A relatively small but still generally large fleet has been organized to perform a precise strike that's now possible thanks to the newly-weakened enemy presence in the local front. A direct attack will be made right in a small fortified area to take down a highly important target. They expect heavy resistance, but are hoping that the fight will quickly be over.

Shadow Front - Sabotage
Intelligence has decided to officially request supplies to perform a small-scale sabotage operation on enemy shipyards deep inside their territory. Unfortunately, they need all kinds of suppleies to do this. They plan on using captured enemy ships to fly straight through enemy lines and sabotage the shipyards through various means.

NEW ABILITY - Conservation
You can now save 5 units of any one resource type instead of allotting it, to be used the following week.

Wait, so the repairing ships automatically used 10 fuel and components, and they need MORE?

((Also, I like how were constantly being switched around to different resources. Really gives the feeling of being a small part of a big organizatoon, even if we're the head quartermaster. If I could suggest something, perhaps we could be promoted/demoted depending on the amount failures/successes we've had in the last few turns, or if we get a extremely high/low result in one turn.))

Entrenched Front

10 u Components
5 u Fuel
5 u Ammunition

Core Front
5 u Fuel
10 u Ammuniton

Shadow Front

5 u Ammunition

The Entrenched front had the greatest setback they need the repairs desperately, simultaneously the Core Front needs a higher amount of ammunition fo rthe assault. That means the Shadow Front is going to suffer for now.

Without any fuel, the Shadow Front might as well be autofailed.

how so? They need all kinds of resources. And im pretty sure their ships are already fuelled up to a certain degree when captured. Besides refuelling a space ship is easier than getting munitions for it.

+1 to This, if 1u of Components goes to the shadow front instead.

Entrenched Front
7u Components
2u Fuel
3u Ammo

Core Front
2u Components
7u Fuel
15u Ammo

Shadow Front
1u Components
1u Fuel
2u Ammo

The Entrenched front needs to repair, but shouldn't need much ammo and can be fuel conscious when flying around. The Core front needs to overwhelm the opponents in mobility and firepower, thus not needing to repair much. The Shadow front was explicitly said to be a small operation, thus do not need many resources.

Week 2 - Resource Allotments
Entrenched Front
  • 7u Components
  • 2u Fuel
  • 3u Ammunition
Core Front
  • 2u Components
  • 7u Fuel
  • 15u Ammunition
Shadow Front
  • 1u Components
  • 1u Fuel
  • 2u Ammunition
Week 2 - Results
Entrenched Front Results
Due to the surplus of supplies, the 2nd Expeditionary Fleet was able to exit drydock by the end of the week, refueled and rearmed as well. Unfortunately, the time it took to repair still allowed the enemy to regroup and repair their defenses that were attacked during the earlier offensive. The admiral of the fleet is apparently preparing for another offensive, but for now the 2nd Expeditionary Fleet will be assigned to defense until replacement ships come in.
Entrenched Front: Minor Success.

Core Front Results
The attack itself was deemed a major success by Fleet Command, but heavy damage was received by the fleet in the battle, and the small amount of components available for combat repair only allowed the problems to get worse. A relatively large part of the fleet will be in drydock for a fairly large period of time and without the ships, the progress in the Core Front has stalled.
Core Front: Pyrrhic Success.

Shadow Front results
Problems plagued the infiltration strike force during its flight, and the lack of components and fuel severely weakened the fleet's speed. By the time they had reached their destination, the enemy had already determined their origin and managed to capture the agents and personnel aboard the ships alive, greatly compromising Intelligence efforts.
Shadow Front: Major Failure.

Week 3
Since the recent offensives taken by Fleet Command and Intelligence have more or less stalled, your attention has been deemed necessary in the area of humanitarian supplies. Wartorn planets, including ones recently taken, are in dire need of supplies. Logistics Command has taken a large portion of your regularly allotted components due to increasing needs for new ships replacing recent losses.
  • 6u Components(Supplies used to repair ships both in drydock and in combat situations. Also used for land building construction maintenance, both civilian and military.)
  • 20u Medicine (Various medical supplies used to treat a large range of ailments.)
  • 20u Rations (Rations. Y'know, the food kind.)
Entrenched Front - Prison Camps
The prison camps located across the Entrenched Front are running critically low on supplies, and prisoner deaths are increasing due to damaged buildings, a lack of medicine, and starvation. Logistics Command tells you that if prisoner casualties keep on increasing, a large amount of attention will have to be diverted to the problem from other areas.

Core Front- Refugees
The influx of refugees to core worlds from recently conquered planets such as the one just taken on the Core Front has put a large strain on already overpopulated worlds. Planetary administrators complain that they can't possibly fit or sustain the amount of refugees that have recently been sent their way.

Shadow Front - In Plain Sight
Intelligence has been forced to take on the defensive role thanks to recent losses, and have put in a peculiar request through Logistics. They want to use supplies as a "bait", hoping that if supplies valuable to the enemy are put in unsecured areas, they can locate spies hidden in recent groups of refugees. They say that they hope to be able to return whatever supplies given, but can't guarantee it.

Entrenched Front:

7u Rations

Core Front:
5u Components
5u Medicine
8u Rations

Shadow Front:

Feel free to tweak the numbers sightly if I've overlooked something, but I believe this looks good.

 Hold on...

Since we destroyed/damaged a lot of enemy ships with the Core Front Success, wouldn't the most valuable resource for the enemy be Components? Seems logical.

Entrenched Front:
12u Medicine
8u Rations

Core Front:
8u Medicine
7u Rations

Shadow Front:
6u Components

Save 5 rations for later?

Or maybe...

Entrenched Front:
10u Medicine
10u Rations

Core Front:
10u Medicine
10u Rations

Shadow Front:
6u Components

I'm more for the first than the second, because if we can save up a resource once, we can KEEP saving up those 5 points instead of spending them, giving us a nice 5u supply of any resource to dip into if we need it.
