"Excellent idea, Lord-Captain. I will look into it. As for the cattle and cult, may I recruit the command staff to assist me?"

"Use any resources available and necessary. Do try to let the others do their jobs, but I am sure they will have plenty of down time in the next few weeks to assist you."

The second and subsequent hands go poorly for everyone but Bron.  A combination of luck and actually starting to understand the game ensure his victory and the pile of thrones and promises that it brings.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The weeks that follow are full of routine activity.  The stolen rations are tracked down to a small time betting ring among clan Gethak, they offer to pay a tax, once uncovered, or to stop altogether.  The animal disappearances also start to drop off.

Unfortunately all work into finding out more about the cult is confused.  The crewmen brought in talk about a Sister Jahlila in a think grey cloak who preached to them about everlasting glory at the side of the Emperor in exchange for sacrifice of themselves in service.  While certainly deviant there is nothing outright heretical, though worryingly the sister is not found.

Smarkle escapes his cell during a particularly bad episode and is found running through the halls smearing blood and shouting that he sees the sin on board the ship and attacking glow lights with a bag of potatoes.  He is talked down but it is clear you might need a new member sometime soon.

As you leave the gate Port New Haven stands out on the sensors or those lucky enough to be near a viewing pane.  It looks in some places burned as though the old scars have not healed, while in others bloated new structures throw off any sense of balance or aesthetics.  The long docking spires, 3 above and 3 below, are strange and foreboding, an older design that allows more ships to dock and presents more targets for incoming fire.

Three ships are docked here, two on the top, a Grand Cruiser of unknown make and The Ballad of Fiery Righteous Certainty a Light cruiser captained by Samanta Tal-Verock the patron of the upcoming opera.  On a lower spire sits a Navy pattern Frigate, Bright Light Through Troubled Waters, captained by "admiral" Yosunke Vaharll, a supposedly renegade navy captain and sometimes privateer.

As Holt observes the data spools being brought by his aides a communications monk, Chert, you make sure to learn your bridge crew names, speaks up.  "I sent the standard prayer codes for docking, but they say we must use the lower dock."  All sound stops in on the bridge for a moment save the beeping and whirring of some machine.  A few faces darken, clearly angered by the insult given to the ship (and maybe her captain).

If you want to do anything lore wise or speaking wise before the dock say so.  Also if you plan to leave anything behind from your personal belonging say so.  You can certainly show up to an opera in power armor, this is the Imperium of Man after all, you might get a few weird stares though.  Anyone not going to the opera should lay out a general game plan.

Blightfang turned towards Bron, he knew that of the humans he was propably the one most accepting of him.

You are going to the station are you not? Can i tag along? The authorities tend to be less...assertive when i'm going with a G- a human.

Nathin wouldn't be bringing his power armor along to an opera of course! Certainly there would be no need for it in the governor's palace, his more comfortable guardsman flack, under a robe of Astropath green of course, would do. After he had finished assembling his ensemble of clothing, carefully placing his religious symbols and psi focus just so on chains across his neck, he made his way from his chambers, ready to attend the opera.

Dressed in long robes of golden orange, Sarvus leaves his armor and hellgun behind: a firefight in the opera? A preposterous suggestion. That doesn't stop him from holstering his Inferno Pistol under his robes, and slipping into his syn-skin-just in case.
As an afterthought, he adds his cameleoline cloak as a bold fashion statement: wearing it open, so, from the front, he is fully visible, but from the back, he is a swirling mess of blurred colors.
Perhaps the Camo-cloak was not a wise decision, but his mind was elsewhere. Many matters demanded his attention, like the ration betters, the unexplained cattle disappearances, and the matter of the Casulets and Monta'guns. He'd have to address the cattle issue with ship's security forces, but the ration betters and families could be solved in port. If there was still time in port after the opera, he would have to see if he could find a better pool for the gamblers, but perhaps one of the unoccupied command staff could find a legal fighting arena for the Casulets and Monta'guns to work out their aggression.
Resolving to delegate the issue, Sarvus has a scribe dictate out messages for each of the command staff who is not attending the opera.
"If you would be so kind, please seek out a fighting ring in the station for the crew to settle their differences. Many thanks, Sarvus.

Amara made sure her pseudo-protégé was sound of mind and readiness (and moreso made sure he was willing), as she also prepared herself formally to head off to the opera--there was nothing better than having to listen to another navigator of another house, especially if amongst similar folk. His teeth were checked and she made note to not make her eyes that apparent, if there would be any commotion or issue to arise anyway.

"Do remember that other than the task of protecting one's self from the empyrean, one also has to enrich one's living to be able to withstand further trials. I know you'll enjoy classical music, and if you find your mind wandering, don't hesitate to talk to me about it," she said to the younger navigator with a ruffle to his hair.

She knew others wouldn't be going to the opera for a myriad number of reasons, and wished them all well in the same before coming out from her personal chambers with the younger navigator at her side. It was time for some R&R, especially given how much her thoughts were drifting from recent events lately.

Opera time!
Also keep indefinitely activated: A Cloud in the Warp.

((I'm wondering if there's any 'cooldown' or such if I have to switch to using my power and back after using it. My technically only other power. :P))

Holt's face goes slightly red at the news.

"If any of the crew asks why we are docked on the lower docks, tell them we did it to keep a low profile. As the last remaining heir to the Kennoch dynasty, security is a major concern, and we do not wish to draw attention to ourselves. At the very least we can keep this insult from infecting the rest of the crew, and if there isn't some truth to that statement someone will be paying the price quite swiftly."

"I suppose I did say you could have shore leave...very well, do as you wish. Don't get into too much trouble and don't get caught. I might very well decide to leave you at the mercy of whatever you anger while alone."

Holt, certainly never having attended anything close to an opera in his life, had swiftly made his way to his quarters. He would be wearing his armor, with his finest (and cleanest) pelts adorning it. His helmet completed the ensemble, itself already decorated with the claws and fangs of fallen predators giving it an appearance akin to a feral crown. His auotpistol was prominently holstered to his side, and his standard gear was prepared just-in-case.

get a cloak to disguise myself as someone vaguely human/mutant.
Travel with Bron to the Ruined Sector, where scum like us is more welcome.
Try and find fellow Kroot and maybe a meat trader.
Find the illegal fighting ring, time to earn some thrones.
Also take my Kroot Rifle, knife and leathers. The Pulse Rifle stays on the rack till i can use it properly.

Bron suits up in his Enforcer Light Carapace, with his arms coffer loaded up with ammo for his hellgun, along with his knife and chainsword at the ready. With a cloak, cloths for all openings of flesh, and a mask to cover himself up.
Not expecting to get into a big conflict, and I'd like to not be extremely conspicuous.

Go with the Kroot into the ruined sector, keeping a vigil eye for potential opponents, points of interest, and a xeno tribe or two that could be engaged with, if they do not engage first. Lots of scouting for potential investigations at a later time;

Sarvus begins quietly arranging to slip out in the middle of the opera to quietly investigate the source of the docking issue.

Going to be leaving behind the Heavy Bolter as we head to the opera. Enforcer Light Carapace Armor, a monosword, and a Hellgun wouldn't be overly odd for a bodyguard would they?

The ship docks at the lower pylon and begins the complex task of resupplying the ship.  A few families prepare for to say goodbye to their loved ones who are planning to make their way in the world while the port-masters look around for anyone skilled and desperate enough to buy onto a voidship.

The travel up the spine is impressive, particularly for Sierra-Beta as she gets a first hand look at the waste disposal, ore transfer and power conduits.  To everyone else it looks like an ugly display of wires and pipes with a few windows and airlocks.  A few of the advanced crew in good standing going out for shore leave make their way with the command staff, as the lift could hold a large tank with room to spare.  They look around nervously out the windows and around the lift at the mighty and terrifying sights.

The lift opens up into a large cavern covered in machines for moving cargo, along the floor and lining the walls.  Three rail systems stretch off into tunnels leading through the solid rock.  Already carts of food and other supplies are rolling in from elsewhere in the station.  Bored workers laze about when shouting from a few overseers start up, probably in response to the two figures approaching your position with a squad of armed and armored guards.

The plump figure with a broad flat face bedecked in long flowing robes of many different colors, carried by several servo skulls, is introduced as Tradesmaster Filip Tristán Sven Cirino Fonseca by one of the skulls, this one gilded in silver.  He apologizes profusely for the necessity of you docking in the lower pylons, as the upper one was reserved for another captain.  Sarvus at least hears the implication hidden in his words, another captain more wealthy and powerful then you.  Fonseca offers an escort to the House of Scales, as the governors manse is called, and to arrange "appropriate" bedding for crewmen and leaders alike.  He continues sly insults that seem to offer no real purpose arranged through his speech.

The other figure is in full carapace armor, a hellgun of unusual make strapped to her back, though her helmet is off.  She has a sharp face, long brown hair and a thick scar across her forehead ending in a bionic eye.  She has a stern look as she introduces herself as Arbitrator Ioudith, chief of security and justice on the station.  She gives a short speech, mostly to your crew, about the need to maintain order and the swift nature of the law.  Her manners are direct and full of routine then respect, but she explains to the command staff the basics of trade and employment on the station.  Everything goes in and out is inspected both for proscribed goods and so that appropriate taxes can be paid.  She is also one of four other judges who handle inter-faction disputes and makes it clear that she considers the Warrant of Trade no more important then other legal posts.

While the other command staff introduce themselves or walk along Bron and Blightfang break off with the shore leave crew then stop into a food stall installed into the wall of the train tunnel.  The station guards give them no notice, likely due to their ship of origin, though that may not come to pass if found deeper in the station.  After eating a few sticky meat buns the old woman directs them down a passage for a little more fun.

After walking down a side passage filled with private births and a few shops selling tickets and common goods they ascend some steps to a dead end featuring a tavern.  They pass through, buy some drinks and then exit out the back.  Here is a large maintenance tunnel turned flophouse, going off in either direction.  Tents and boarded up holes in the walls make simple living areas, although a few junkies are passed out on the floor.  The grav plating seems uneven here and only a few lights are working, although an open plasma vent lights up the way a few meters down.

Anything you guys want to do or interact before the opera go ahead.  The two will lead you there.

Bron and Blightfang, choose something to go after first cultists, fighting ring, xenos, kroot or something else, either together or separately.  This will be a simple exploration test.  To do this you need to decide on exploration or other relevant skills to use.  For example you could use awareness, search, an advanced exploration skill (or an interaction skill in this case).

Not at all.  Other guards will pay attention, but that is the point really.

Leave the leadership to Bron for now. Help him out by using my Awareness Skill (per 38) or my Tracking Skill (int 34) depending on what is more useful
