i actually originally wanted a PS that boosted her Ignis proc rate but that wasn't allowed in sword's game and i didn't think it'd be good here

Honestly I see no problems with having a PS to boost Ignis by, say, 10%. Unless Sword had a real good reason to refuse that kind of thing, in which case I'd change my opinion when I hear it.

Also boosting Ignis by 2 whole percent is still not that useful, even with the +4 Hit and +1 Dodge that the extra skill brings. I'd still change it.

Naw that's fair. Magic is useful too just hopefully someone will get us heals

Hopefully. I can say that the person who submits the only healer character will have a guaranteed spot in the game because, well, healing. I doubt that everyone wants to dump a ton of money in potions every map.

I'd cap the ignis chance at 5% if you're going to allow it. Especially with them including luck, that's a pretty high shot at triggering it potentially which could be a decent addition of damage. Obviously in the end it's your call but I don't think any gms have allowed for an addition to % skills chances

Alright. I'll go with +5% skill chance then, since everyone seems to be recommending it. It's probably still underwhelming for a PS but still better than +2 Skill. Maybe. The +4 Hit might be more useful overall, honestly. And neither of them can even compare to +15 or even +10 Hit, never mind +10 Crit. They might not even be as good as +2 Damage, now that I think about it.

Bards can graduate into a staff using class, can't they?
Though I was thinking of going enchanter. I don't remember seeing one of those before.

Don't think so no. Alec was enchanter and I don't remember him getting a staff

My character's backstory just doesn't fit a staff user. I mean, a little girl who's angry over her mother's untimely death wouldn't want to start training with staves looking to make the person behind it fall asleep someday.

If nobody else does a healer I can do a Priest(ess). With FEF5 shut down I don't have one of those and with Cript and Haspen's characters we seem to have some decent tanks.

On that subject, USEC, is healing magic tied to religion in this setting? I want to know what I should consider for the character.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

No worries, you're not required to run a character you don't want to. Though uh... How old were you planning on making your character?

This probably isn't very useful, but staff users for future reference:

Trainee Class:
-Priest Trainee (no other weapons)

First Class:
-Priest (no other weapons)
-Troubadour (horse mounted, also has physical weapon, such as sword, axe, lance, bow)

Promoted Class:
-Bishop (from Monk or Priest) (also has light magic)
-Holy Guard (from Troubadour) (horse mounted, also has anima magic) <-- in this game, they have light magic
-Nomad Healer (from Nomad) (horse mounted, also has bow)
-Sage (from Mage) (also has anima magic)
-Saint (from Priest) (no other weapons)
-Valkyrie (from Pegasus Rider or Troubadour) (pegasus mounted, has lance if promoted from Pegasus Rider, has physical weapon if promoted from Troubadour) (only way you can be a pegasus archer, if you're into that)

Healing magic is not tied to religion in this setting. As for the other types of magic, Dark is associated with paganism, Light with Anahitism/Astva and Anima is purely agnostic. These aren't strong associations though, so you can fluff things however you want. A 'priest' flinging fire in the name of Sohrab or a follower of Veles healing people would be totally fine.
