Yes, they might be weaker then us individually, but if you just put a lot of numbers in, they'll make up for it.

Well, nothing prevents USEC from spamming berzerk performers. Now, I wonder how that would look.
Saying that randomly, I haven't read that part of the rulebook in a while.

Performer trainees have literally no way of inflicting damage. Not even indirectly with poison/berserk/charm. So... No.

I was thinking the exact same thing, actually. It's just that Performer Trainees can't use performances/lyrics/whatever. So it's not an option for them. I will add that to my list of ideas, however.
