In line:

1. You forgot FEL in your stats.
2. Acquisition. Reposting easy sheet:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So in acquisition, there are three categories^. For your starting acquisition, you will pretty much always have a +30 from only getting a single item in the scale. You can have a total of +0 from your starting acquisition, which means you can have up to an "Extremely Rare" item or a lower rarity item with a higher Craftsmanship.

3. Fate Points

Basically, you roll a 1d10 and compare the result to your "fate points" on your homeworld. Normally there is a chance you get one less/more. Add/subtract any penalties from your total.

So along with the two plans I placed here--I've been staring at the "Supplemental Components" area and realized that the Trophy room can act as a much better Cargo Bay (if the fluff flavor isn't accounted for) as the bonuses are better in comparison. If we're being mechanical :P

Voidslayer: Could I have confirmation on these things? Does actually having a cargo bay matter or bring more thrones as compared to not having one, but having a component that gives the same amount of Trade achievement points? I'm going by the book in reading supplemental components here.

Also can anyone explain the 'range' of a weapon to me? Those Sunsear laser batteries look pretty tempting to sacrifice supplemental components that aren't astropath/arboretum for.

Character creation for this game looks extremely good fun!
LA :D LONG TIME NO SEE!!! :))
It seems VoidSlayer is still accepting people though o_o Caellath seems in, and I'm unsure about BHK or a few others who have posted interest.

Hi Tiruin :)

I imagine by the time I managed to get a character together it would be quite too late. I might look at the rulebook if i get a spare two hours this evening though. It looks great and I even played 40k a few times 15 years ago. But it also looks a bit involved...

There are a few disadvantages of using the trophy room instead of a cargo bay.  Scrutiny is one, you can not really hide thing well there even if it provides criminal objective points.  In addition the room can only be selected once, where you could select multiple types of cargo bays, not really relevant for your ship build though.  Lastly if you did need to haul bulk stuff like grain or criminals, you would not have a dedicated place to put it and that would have narrative effects.

The lighter bay also has much more room for personal craft including default non combat landers and stuff.  Otherwise you are using makeshift ports in the hull, which normally are rare to keep the ship armored.  (the shark whatever will be fine though)

For the Rogue planet option it is great to have it, with a few limitations.  It needs to be in the expanse, it needs to be rogue, not near any star, it needs to be mysterious dangerous and weird.  Ancient beyond recognizing or recently pulled from the star by unknown means.  Glad to have some world-building taken up by others, I would be able to incorporate it in at least an endeavor a little later if not immediately.

While I am accepting applications they will probably be put in a reserve since the existing applications are all fine.  We are approaching too big to handle levels.

I need to get something to eat, the flesh is weak, then I will tackle finalizing your guys characters one at a time then look into a starting post for you guys to at least do some IC interactions.

Woo, narrative and contextual bonuses! :3 I was thinking silly things and drafted a sheet that made our sword frigate into a battle frigate with sunsear laser batteries; counting upgrades to command deck and Clan-kin quarters (The VPLifeSustainer takes so much room ;~;), and stripping down all supplementary components minus the xeno-tech and astropath room, left me with 2/1/3 in power, space, and SP left ._.

Me and Cript also talked about the contrast of sunsear to macrocannon, range and otherwise. Hopefully the maps would be cool.

Also anyone voting on the ships? :P
As far as my suggestions go, we've a battle-leaning Sword frigate versus a more utilitarian Tempest frigate that can seemingly smuggle stuff.

All perfect for me :3 You can adjust it to be of any sort--tech focused, ruins of some kind, maybe even warp-touched in a way. Just not necrons. :V
Maybe even DAoT AI or Men of Stone! ._.
I just hope we'll visit that place one way or another. It's free for you to work on though as a point in your plans as I'm fully ok with the GM doing whatever he pleases within reason! :3

I like the tempest frigate more, shadowblind bays seem cool, so I'll vote for that.

I'm curious what positions are available to join as + I'm completely new, so I'm hesitant to join because I don't want to slow things down.

Multiples of a position can be taken actually :O Either due to possible attrition or that there are more slots able. :3
Join up dude~ I'm new too--and this is my first sheet (Navigator \o/)

On that note of the Tempest ship plan...considering The #2 plan all the way until 1., we can remove the Astropathic Choir-chambers, upgrade the Combat to Command bridge, and change it back to a SWORD Frigate, so it WILL have a better detection of +10 overall along with the Shadowblind Bays.

...Although serious mention goes to Cript, as this is really his forte ._.

So, is there a PDF I can read to get started? I noticed there's no Missionary, so I'll go for that if I'm allowed.

Yes, but its out of print and will remain so, as the producing company is no longer making 40k rpgs.

You could acquire a hardcopy, but thats the only way to get the book (full stop).

edit: Ouch, rolled 2 fate points, -1 means this is not a lucky fellow.

For ships, given the context :P. The range is a little like the normal weapons range. You can only shoot targets up to 2XRange (in VU), with a -10 penalty if you go over the normal range. If you are within half your range, you get a +10 bonus instead. That is about all there is too it :P.

We could also use a couple more aliens, if you wanna play an Ork/Dark Eldar/Tau/Etc. Someone most certainly didn't post a link to the book earlier here, cuz that would be piracy.

Can I ask how people are starting with Artificer Power Armor? From what I've seen, it's Extremely Rare and therefore outside the abilities of starting Acquisition

I'm going to just post StirkS explanation.
Uh

I don't know how acquisitions work -_-;

Also if we have too many heavy weapons specialists I could switch it to something like Flame instead.

Its more Stirk complaining that heavy weapons are supposed to be something you have at like tier 4, and we have three guys with it at tier 1   :-\.

Acquisitions are pretty easy. Reposting the sheet:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Basically there are three categories: How rare something is (Shown next to the weapon or item), how many you want, and the craftmanship. Here you are only getting one item (probably :P) so you get a +30 initially. If you choose an Extremely Rare item (-30 penalty), you could only afford common craftmanship (no bonus.)

After chargen, its basically the same thing, but the result doesn't have to be +0 and you roll against the profit factor.

So they can afford them if they only get Common Craftsmanship versions.

Extremely rare comes with a -30 penalty^, which is offset by the +30 from only getting one. It's the highest rarity they can get, and it should be a higher rarity, but it is obtainable.
