What's your oldest (post-generation) world?
« on: September 11, 2016, 07:49:33 pm »

We were talking in Discord and I had the thought; what's the oldest post-generation world that anyone has? Obviously, we could all push a button and let the simulation run for X years before building our first fort or going on an adventure. But instead, if you've generated a world and have played multiple times in that same world it should be aging as you do so.

So, after the initial generation, how old is that world?

My world is 146 years post world-gen. I'm playing a generational fort and aside from a few years setting up a "backup" fortress I have been playing the same site for the whole period. The world in the immediate area of my fortress is getting a bit quiet. Most of the humans and elves are dead and even the goblins seem to be short on numbers.

That's pretty awesome; the same fort too is impressive. How long ago was it that you generated it IRL time?

I had one that went for around 30 years. It's still going and I still play a season or two occasionally. I think I've had like three different forts in it. The point of it for me was to go back to 0.34.11 for a while after a few months of 0.40 being out so I could play with the old sieges and emotion system some more. Also I found an old mod I wanted to try out that would take some time to update.

Its a feature. Impregnating booze is a planned tech tree for dwarves and this is a sneak peek at it.
Unless you're past reproductive age. Then you're pretty much an extension of your kids' genitalia

Six weeks ago I think, but I have been "cheating" a little by sealing my dwarves in from outside threats for decades at a time and letting it run overnight with the "nopause 1" command active.

My current world has been running for 67 years with the first fort founded in the year 500. I'm on my fourth fort, with this being the longest at 23 years.

I don't normally run a world much longer than this due to lack of interesting site, DF burnout, or new versions.
