Real bug this time; merchants arrived and caught fire
« on: September 09, 2016, 08:08:08 pm »

The first odd thing was that as soon as they started unloading, I received a notice that the stray horse was found dead.  I have no horses.  After that, a fire started at the depot and is now spreading.  The 'source' command in DFHack did not spawn a water tile.  I have the save if need.  Also open to suggestions if anyone knows another DFHack command to extinguish fire.

Edit: Ok, Source command did work, just took a few seconds to kick in.  Unfortunately, the fire spread well past that point.

Merchants catch fire all the time[By bringing magma or other flamey substances to trade], although usually on entering the map. Not sure what's going on in this case.

I know there's a DFhack command to change the weather and rain is quite useful for putting out fire. Typing "ls" should give you a list and hopefully allow you to find out what the exact wording it.

Please check your errorlog. And, well, yes, usually thats when entering the map. If I dont know which item exactly caused this, I cant fix it. Although I do expect it to be some "liquid fire clothing" item, which somehow spread over from Succubi mode to other races. ^^

Only your fort should be able to produce them but I'm starting to believe that something changed there. Furthermore how did they ended in the hands of other races? Did inter civ trading was implemented?

I had issues with liquid-fire items before... I removed the liquid-fire extract from the snakes JUST at the same time you made the fireshaper clothing workshop... so I put it back in.

I have no idea how other races find, tame and process fire-snakes... but its the only entry of "liquid fire" in all raws.

Okay, then I will add another source of fire so you can remove it from fire snakes.

Civs can get access to materials from adventurers and thieves finding things and dropping them off in a settlement, that's how elves keep getting divine cloth in Vanilla. Assuming succubi redress their snatched-children when the old clothes tatter, maybe the merchant was rescued by an adventurer and just hasn't changed into something less hazardous before reality decided he should be combusting.

World-gen doesn't produce adventurers, as far as I can tell. The only way I've seen snatched children change hands is by being re-snatched. And anyhow, it certainly doesn't seem to keep track of their clothes, though the next release might well change that.
