Immovable hatch covers
« on: September 08, 2016, 12:51:55 am »

So for a while I've had two hatch covers blocking me from finishing my textiles building. Two hatch covers that cannot under any circumstances be moved.

Details:
-I am playing 43.03 (PeredexisErrants LNP 0.43.03-r04)
-I have used the clean map and exterminate commands but that wasn't until after the problem appeared
-There are no burrows, and plenty of idle haulers
-They are not forbidden
-There are no hauling settings preventing furniture from being moved
-There is plenty of available stockpile space
-They were produced by my dwarves, and have never belonged to any other civ or group

Now that we've covered the basics, let's get to the weird stuff.
-According to my stocks screen, they don't exist, and yet they always generate an "item blocking site" cancellation
-Not even autodump will shift them

Are they built, or just laying there?
At the next caravan, use search to get them to depot?

A stupid dwarven suggestion is to use DFHack to spawn magma on top of them, if they're not magma proof. It's up to the overseer whether it's considered appropriate to keep dorfs away from the area while doing so.

One thing that causes items to be impossible to be moved (automatically: I don't know if it affects autodump) when building is if they're allocated for building something else, in particular if that job is suspended or the build location is unavailable (such as in a closed off cavern).

They've just been laying there since the workshop they were inside was deconstructed years ago.

I don't have any active hatch installations so I don't think its that. It could have got lost in the ether along the way somehow and never unflagged I guess.

Will backup save for possible future testing and try the magma, they are wooden.

Update: It worked! Magma incinerated them, and I have finally finished building on those tiles. Thanks!  :D

It does that when thing is tasked somehow.

A solution is to forbid the hatch covers and let the game run a bit, then unforbid them.
