oh, I see. 

I was just saying that I think DF elves are supposed to be stereotypical.
I don't see all elves like that, in fact the elves in this story i'm writing are very different from the stereotype:

they start off like standard immortal, beautiful people, but with green blood and yellow, papery skin. they must eat "fruit of immortality" or they begin to age and grow taller, decaying and becoming like plants. Their limbs become long and branch-like, with more joints than normal. Eventually they become insane, decrepit, tree-like skeletons.

The recent DFTalk certainly suggests that Toady intended for them to be Tolkienesque Elves, but that's pretty clearly not how they turned out; atm we've got rabid, feral, breed-like-rabbits-and-eat-thine-enemies elves that declare war on people for the hell of it and never seem to survive world generation when i have 5 goblin civs and 3 orc civs (strange that...)

Also, Deon, don't you usually draw elves as naked six-fingered greenskins?

As you see, I like to try unusual things and I am not afraid to use imagination .

The Avatar hairless furries elves do not belong in DF. We already have beast-men races that will be more than active in the upcoming release with the extra fun added underground. Nowhere is safe again! Like back in the 2D.

If DF Elves are anything but sadistic Tolkien Elves, they're zerglings.

As beast-men go, the Avatar aliens are pretty damn humany. Beast men tend to be, well, beasts.


The people coloured Avatar aliens actually look pretty good, the patterns look like some sort of elaborate ritual tattooing, which is neat.

If it wouldn't be directly ripping a major motion picture and mediocre cannon (which our current elves really don't, ours have made their own niche), then I really wouldn't care if the Elves looked more animalistic and tribal.

Thumbs down on the blue elves. Though we can totally have our elves look more tribal than the Tolkien ones do. That would fit.

Seriously, that elf is fucking scary and the gobbo in your avatar is like "Stop staring at me or I'll kick your ass," but at the same time, they're the cutest depiction of DF creatures I've ever seen, aside from cutebolds.

Actually, they made me think about Robin Hobb's Specks. Specks are people that have marks on their body, sort of in the same way cats have "stains" on their fur. As far as I've read (and please don't spoil), they live in a forest they adore, wander naked through the trees with incredible agility and discretion, often not being seen by non-Specks. To my knowledge, they don't use bows or anything, but if it's not for this, they look quite much like Elves and non-blue Avatar aliens.
