I'd say nr 4, but let the orbits go partially behind the dwarf. Maybe nr2 if it were magma and not a hydrogen bomb. Maybe add some microcline.

Sensei: I agree with Siquo but ... I actually fancy none of those sugestions. Why not make some pixelart or asciiart? It would be more thematic and much more consistent (since you are using that dwarf icon).

How's that for pixel art? Now with alpha!

Seeing it against a dark background, however, leads me to believe that the 'fizz' should have been partially alpha'd, rather than made a lighter color.

Edit: Added new version with variegated alpha.

3 is more icon-worthy. Just pixelfy it more, and you'll be set.

As for an overall logo, I agree with Siquo and go for magma instead.

I much prefer the pixel art. Especially "!!DWARVEN SCIENCE!!" since !! tags are always good.

The test tubes might look a little better only most of the way full with liquid.

Yes, I was wondering what the family was looking at... They seem to be... down. Otherwise very family-picturesque.

Sensei: Use the new pixel one! With MuonDecays suggestion!
Although the new nr4 is nice as well. It depends on where what how you're going to use the image, I guess...
