Yep mine don't have tails, although you wouldn't be able to tell that from the picture. I was trying to develop the kobold sketch a bit more.

They are sort of flattened fangs with drool coming off them. My explanation is that they only look rodent-like superficially, having reptilian biological features but requiring fur as an adaptation to cold climates - especially since they seem to be nocturnal.

You stab the minator in the head with your -Iron Spear-
It is pierced through entirely!

I may colour this later, I haven't really had a lot of spare time recently... what with school and all.

A perfect example of why full-color graphics might be a little controversial.

Great work, btw.

It reminds me of Frank Miller's Sin City, but it's missing two things:
1. Black, and lots of it.
2. WhoresWhoresWhoresWhoresWhores

I'm not aware of Frank Miller's other works. Are there a great deal of whores in them?

Sin City sort of proved that you can accomplish a whole lot by using striking composition alone.

Proposal:

I wanted to gauge interest and see if anyone wants to start a thread for drawing and painting. We could do a dwarf-a-day or something like that, share resources, and do serious critiques. It would sort of be like what they do over at the conceptart.org forums except maybe a little less intimidating than it is over there.

We could compile references, tutorials, demonstrations and practical advice in the first post of the thread. I think we could keep each other motivated and build on each other's energy. Plus, DF provides an infinite supply of subject material.

I went to art-school, where I didn't learn how to draw or paint (wrong major), but I did gain a lot of practical experience in balancing group critique with individual artistic style. I think, that with a little effort, everyone involved could gain a lot from the consistent practice it might provide.

So, let me know if you are interested!

Yeah it would go in there, it would be a long term thread like this one, but more focused on the art-making aspect and less on the awesome factor. I want to get several people on board if possible, since that's what it would take to get it going.

I certainly would be! :D

Although I have to buy a new tablet first. Mine is being a bastard. The pen is behaving really weirdly - it "clicks" before I even touch the nib to the tablet. It's really hard to draw with it.

You need to adjust the distance sensitivity.

I think you can buy replacement pens for pretty cheap, I know mine has been acting up a bit too....

We could do traditional materials as a group to if we decide too go that route.
