The light source is the being of light, obviously. He's not done yet.
And you can't really see all the details, but whatever. You get the idea.

Two mouths down, 9998 to go. I'll scan it for real when it's done.


...oh, and I'm pretty sure Vester mentioned doing this request too. I want to see that.

Not really. I never liked the DnD lizard kobolds anyway. The WoW depiction of them as vermin-like fits with DF more.

I like the idea of the cutebolds.
It seems appropriate for them to be so pathetic, and it's likewise appropriate for dwarves to mercilessly slaughter fuzzy animals for their bones.

On the other hand, they taught me my place on the great wheel of rule 24... those gobs and bolds... so cute... so hawt...

Ironghand: 0_0 That's... Amazing. I am torn between being deeply honoured over someone finding something I came up with worth all that effort, and a feeling of shame about so much work being spent on something I gave so little thought into writing...

Haha. Your approval fills me with joy.

Your shame, however, is unwarranted. Actually, I've completely deviated from your paragraph now.
He's turned into more of just a generic massive evil demon troll monster thing, with just one mouth.
I'm not even going to do the being of light or the background or anything... probably just him.

Actually, I don't sketch much, so thanks for inspiring me to do so! It's quite enjoyable!

Anyway, I'm done with his head and back and eyes now:

Hmmm... it occurs to me that he's no longer particularly applicable to the thread.
What should I add so that he's properly "Dwarf Fortress Fan Art"?

Maybe he'll be fighting an adventurer, or strangling an elf, or something...

EDIT: Or a kobold. Which I see like the lizardish D&D ones, by the way.

Very nice elf! Looks fittingly cruel and unpleasant.

Speaking of cruel and unpleasant, I've suddenly realized that my demon really does have merit.
Look at it: it's a combination of a hippo (lower jaw(s)), a carp (upper jaw) and a spider (eyes).
It's, like, the psychological embodiment of terror in a dwarf's mind.

And apparently I've picked that up too.

So now I need to incorporate, what...

I'm actually liking the tentacle idea a lot...
And I have considered wings a couple times. Less likely, though.

If they were, they'd probably have to be feathered. Eagles and cave swallows are scarier than bats.

For the record, I totally imagine them as cute and cuddly under their masks. It just seems like if they were going to raid a dwarven settlement, they'd want to look as menacing as possible.

nice detail on the equipment.

I don't think goblins would be that colourful though, considering they wear mainly silk clothes and Iron armour.
