at first I sort of pictured them looking like the frog monsters from hellboy (image link below),

http://www.sjgames.com/miniatures/hellboy/villains/img/frog1.lg.jpg

but I decided that that image is more suitable for the frogmen from the underground river. I thought the frog demons should be more easily recognizeable as demonic. So I stuck horns on them (it says somewhere on the wiki that they have horns)

Here's a pen sketch of a goblin swordsman.

I know they usually wear full plate, but I like the way he looks without it.
He looks kinda like Yoda. Only in a fantasy setting instead of science fiction.

Well, Yoda looks a lot like most goblins, to varying degrees.

The short stature, ears, and wide head are all established goblin tropes.

... and it's well established that certain areas of George Lucas' imagination were, to be kind, inspired heavily by traditional fantasy settings.

This thread gave me an idea to do a series of mini-comics based on DF physics. I just need a couple more ideas. Here's lesson 1 at least.

it adds an element of danger when the water pressure squeezes olmmen and frogmen through the fortification.

Eughgh. looks like he got hit by a shovel.
Nice details, though.

The best part is, he looks like he won't do anything to save himself. :D

Spoiler: War Hammer sketch (click to show/hide)

I always thought of the DF hammers as giant baseball bats due to their goblin flinging potential.

That's an interesting take on it, but that would qualify more as a type of mace, I think. Then again, I'm not an expert on the precise definition differences between bludgeoning weapons.

I thought of Maces as the ultra low polygon Rune Scape ones with the really sharp points but I see how you could think that.

The critical thing is the center of gravity, and how it is swung. You can hit someone with any side of the end of a mace. Also, the center a gravity is a little closer to you down the shaft. A hammer has a front and back as well as a top and bottom, and no weighting down the shaft.

In other words, you have yourself a mace.

Unless he bends physics to make it meet the criteria of a hammer.  Which DF may very well do at some point.  Look at how much it bends already.
