That cave swallow is very nicely done. It made me feel like doing something of a slightly similar style.

Despite my relatively poor grasp of how light interacts with objects, I'm actually pleased with how this turned out.

PS: I seem to have made it fairly small, so I blew it up by 3x.

Ah, the guy who makes Blastwave turned Dwarf.
And no, I won't ask you to make Gone With The Catsplosion.

Anyway, looking great!

Sometimes they wear dresses.

But then the second winter eats them.

Yes, making nearly naked dwarves covered in vomit and blood did cross my mind, but decided to go with this slightly cartoonish style instead.

how long did that take you? and, what program are you using?
Started a few weeks ago. Probably a few days of work on the dwarves. Cat took the longest because of various screwups. It's all done in 3ds max with CAT rigs.

Those are awesome!
But they could use something to specify they are DF dwarves, not just from any generic fantasy. Dresses and vomit cover could do, or their actions in the animations.

Hmm, have you considered using an actual hair system for the beards? (it might be slow/hard to make look right thou, and it'd take away from the cartoony feel.)

I'm afraid I've not drawn anything in, oh, two or three years. I'm extremely rusty, and I was never any good to begin with :D Anyway, I threw together a quick sketch (I do want to start drawing again) - mostly to poke at dwarven anatomy. Behold, the Queen! Her crown and belt buckle menaces with spikes of microcline! And I suck at drawing clothes (and most else, I'm afraid - her hand looks like a foot). Anyway, for a 3-minute sketch (and 3 minutes adding some colour, since I only used red for the sketch), this is what came out:

Only use a cheap $60 program, but it works for what I'm usually drawing (that is, on the computer). Not that I do very often, but I need to justify the tablet every once in a while :/

Where is her Beard?

You remember incorrectly. The new raws bring this up specifically:

Quote
Now we'll declare the specific castes.

   [CASTE:FEMALE]
The gender tag lets it know how breeding works.
      [FEMALE]
      [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE]
To add beards, put square brackets around the following:
      BODY_DETAIL_PLAN:FACIAL_HAIR_TISSUE_LAYERS

   [CASTE:MALE]
      [MALE]
      [BODY_DETAIL_PLAN:FACIAL_HAIR_TISSUE_LAYERS]
(Emphasis added)
