12 year old sister drew a picture of my hammerchampions fighting the orcs that I modded to be 2.5 times the size of megabeasts, made of iron and most of the "no"-tags added.

She has quite an.. interesting view on how the orcs look.

You have great skill Balathustrius. Keep up the good work. You and all the contributors to this thread are  generating hype about DF. I feel we should try market this more, maybe a special fan art section in the Bay12 website?

Balathustrius you are probably the most underrated artist in this thread. Your work is great, I love the lighting, skin detail and general realism of it. I look forward to seeing a 'proper' scene painted by you.

The dwarf at the bottom of the image looks like psycho!

Lear:Thanks!  That's a big question; I think the most important thing to keep in mind is where the light source is in your picture and to render in shadows and highlights based on that and nothing else.  It's also important to consider edge quality; form shadows have soft edges, cast shadows hard edges.  To get good at it, there's really nothing like drawing from life, or so I hear.

DeadlyLintRoller: Thank you!  Do you think this thread is generating hype?  I dunno; I would think the only people who are here are people who already know about DF.  Maybe we should paint some banner ads or something for DF.

Raz:  Thanks for the kind words.  I keep meaning to do some proper painting, instead of just sketches all the time.  Too impatient, I guess.

Very nice. I like the way you paint the muscles on the forearms (also on that elf). The armour looks great too, not too high fantasy.

Altough I do think the proportions are a bit weird, especially on the legs. This guy is way too short and feeble for a goblin methinks.

I think it can generate hype. Every major game title has concept art etc.,

I remember staring at Metzen's drawings for Starcraft. it really helps to give you a feel for a game.

Homeworld is another game that has a lot of cool art which I've always appreciated.
