They are not scaly, kobolds are furry :). And have no tails. If you want to see how kobolds look, try the Kobold Quest game by Toady.

i know they arent scaly, but most games seem to portray them as such nowadays.

i wouldent actually mind using them as my Default Playable race, as long as they have a full tilestet thing

Anyone got a full Kobold tileset? that is compatible with mayday, hopefully.  :D

Kobold Camp includes a full graphics set.

I think it's a vastly amusing thought that elephants are so afraid of heights that when Dwarves invented the Z-axis, they couldn't bear to face dwarves in combat anymore.

Awesome :D

will my 'bolds work like dorfs? but with kobold names and such? or will i have to do any modding?  :P

Also, does it have ALL the tiles required?

Oh, and, couldya please walk me through installin the tileset properly?

P.S will i have any problems with this?

Lol.  Thanks.   ;D

I think this is a frog demon.  He's rising from a pit.

This is amazing!! Excellent work and creativity. I whole-heartedly endorse the idea that the appearance of a 'frog demon' should be interpreted loosely. However, what is we were to have demon frogs?

That post I linked has a link to mega-upload with the entire mod pre-installed. All you have to do is download and run it.

Look through the thread to see what the mod does.

yeaaaaah, i was lookign at it after i last posted, i found the mayday patch.

hehe, i want simply to basically replace the dorfs with 'bolds and the language files and sech with a kobold one (which im looking for) im not really that fond of dwarves, but i Really like the 'bold, but they apparantly have really low tech in DF, which is kinda annowing.

Kobolds don't have a language file.  Instead they have the UTTERANCES tag which gives rise to their rather unique names.

I approve of that kobold.

The first game I ever encountered "kobolds" in was, oddly enough, Ragnarok Online, in which kobolds look like this: (link)  (link)

As a result, it is inevitable that once appearances are in the game, I will be modding kobolds into adorable puppy people, with blue-or-tan fur and pointy-or-floppy ears.
And then I'll never be able to kill one again. :/

Actually originally kobolds were pale-skinned creatures which lived in mines and could cause cave-ins, they were "miners' boogiemen". Later DnD took em and created a dragon-worshipping scaly race. Toady's kobolds in kobold quest are much closer to origin, although they have fur. Still they are ugly evil creatures which set up traps in caves and throw poisoned bugs at people.

Yes, yes, folklore and all that. I am quite aware.

Nonetheless: Puppy. People.

(I didn't draw that)

I hate to be pedantic here. (Not really.) Scaly kobolds are specifically from 3rd edition D&D. Earlier editions were inconsistent on monster appearances, but kobolds were sometimes described as dog-like, and some other sources picked up on this.

I dunno why they changed the puppy people into baby dinosaurs.
